Last night I was the last one downstairs on my laptop. I knew my sister sometimes comes down to get ice to chew on (don't ask why, because I don't know.) I heard sounds of footsteps coming from my kitchen. I assumed it was her, getting ice, but I didn't hear her open the freezer, get out the ice, etc. I heard sounds of someone picking up different things and putting them down again, after lightly using them, one of them was the sound of a plastic cup (which is the kind she gets her ice in.) I though it was odd, so I glanced in the from my family room couch, but all of the lights in there were off, and I couldn't see anyone in there, so I assumed she was just too tired to turn the lights on. The sounds were still going on, but less frequently. I started feeling funny, but not like physically funny, like mentally. I felt disturbed, like something had taken over my brain and then left. I brought up the courage to look in there, and the paper towel rack was glowing. Not like green, like glow in the dark, and not like the whole thing. There was a splotch on one side that was glowing like a light bulb, but it didn't give any light to anything else, the only thing that wasn't in near complete darkness was that one splotch in the paper towel rack. The second I looked at it, i got the chills. I could tell it had NO scientific/logical reason whatsoever. I sprinted up the stars as fast as I *crag* could, and I've felt paranoid ever since then. I still feel funny, sometimes, and I've been scared to look let alone go into the kitchen, or even the family room for that matter. Whenever I get the courage to look in the kitchen, I feel like the lights are off, but then they're on when I look in. I'm afraid to even THINK about looking into darkness, even the screen of any electronics when they're off. I know nothing bad can happen from looking at them, but it's not something that's conscious. It's as if my body won't let me. I'm freaked out like hell, and even thinking about it gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Holy shit.

It sounds like you've developed a phobia for darkness.

What's wrong with being afraid of the dark? I still find darkness scary as hell.

Anyway, that's a creepy experience... I would have done the same thing. XD

I'm kinda afraid of the dark sometimes myself.

There's nothing wrong with being afraid of something, though... but if the fear is irrational, then there's nothing wrong with trying to get over it.

Nonetheless, not everyone gets over their fears.

No. I could tell because the light wasn't going on to anything else. On everything besides the one splotch, it was as if nothing was there.

I'm still thinking that maybe your sister has one of those mini-flashlights. They don't shine very bright, they're about the size of a battery, and if she had it gripped in her hand, there would be no outside glow.

No. It couldn't have been. She wasn't in there, and the shine was bright bright yellow.

First step: Nothing's happened to you yet. You're unharmed. So, for the time being there really isn't anything to be afraid of ( though I understand if you are ).
Second step: Maybe you should see if it happens again. Be in exactly the same position, but this time make sure you know where everyone is. If you're really scared, have someone near you.
Step 3, A: If it doesn't happen again, hurray. Whatever it was, it didn't happen again and for the time being there's not a single reason to be afraid any more.
Step 3, B: The same event occurs. If it does, we'll go to further steps.

Step 4 should be "get the vaccuum cleaner, cuz it's time to go on a hunt".
