It has been in production for a few years now, and M'aiq never really bothered to check the site until recently. What he saw made him drop his jaw.

First off, keep in mind that this game has been in development using RPG Maker 2003.

http://kwrpg.revasser.net/

First off, the things that astound M'aiq.

Quote:
The final product will feature:

An engaging storyline spanning many chapters and involving over a hundred characters!
A wide world with five biomes and twenty six provinces ripe for the exploration.
Ten core playable characters, each with their own unique playstyles and strategies.
Plenty of dungeons riddled with challenging puzzles and chaotic action.
Multiplayer to battle and trade with your friends!
Deeper meaning in life.*

Multiplayer? How on earth? M'aiq really has to see this before he can believe it. The site mentions one of the modes being similar to KAR's City Trial, where you can run rampant collecting stats and fight shadows of your buddies records. Sounds awesome even if that technically isn't multiplayer.

Quote:
During the first four chapters, the game will track your actions and gameplay styles to determine what preference you have. Do you like battling, or do you find the ATBs battle system a burden when compared to exploring the open world? Are you a little bit of both, perhaps? The conclusion it comes to will alter the flow of events in the future. Certain places that are filled with tough monsters for one player, may house a fairly intricate puzzle for you. Brawn or brain, the game will curve itself to you.

The game ADAPTS to how you want to play it? Hoooly shit. Solving in-game puzzles is listed as the alternative to EXP grinding. If you fight numerous monsters to level, you'll find more difficult enemies in dungeons, but if you show that puzzle and adventure are more your style, the game will throw that at you instead.
Quote:
People playing the game on NewGame+ will be able to change this to their own liking. At the start of each chapter.

And you'll be able to experience the other side of the game when you beat it. That sounds like a good use of "replay value" to M'aiq!

A few things you should know that make this game even more awesome and should make you eager to play it when it comes out.

First, the game will apparently have actual cutscenes.

Second, your character will learn skills in a similar way to Final Fantasy X. Will you make Kwar a general mage, with all the basic spells, or will you try spoiling him with all the fire abilities you can?

Third, if you scroll down to music, the songs revealed thus far are awesome. You can tell there's alot of effort going into all of this.

Fourth, KAR stat icons ftw.

All this made me rekindle my account on the KWRPG forums...

Multiplayer? In 2k3? Is this some kind of cruel joke?
I mean I've heard of people hacking the engine to do things it normally couldn't, but... damn.
And that 3D picture... is that from an actual in-game cutscene?!
If they wanted to modify the engine so heavily, why not just use XP? VX probably wasn't out at the time this started. ФֻФ

Cool that they used the Kirby Air ride symbols for those stats things, but RAGE that the power one is the All one.

To answer some questions:

The first KWRPG was pretty generic. It was made using RM98 and relied very heavily on the horrid RTP. The thing that made the game unique is the fact that there were multiple endings(M'aiq only found like 3 of them.)

Basically, KWRPGI was like a first attempt at RPG making. It may not be worth the time in actual 'today' standards.

KWRPGII was made of awesome. It used RM2k and while it still used the RTP, it at least put it to good use. It has a single plotline unlike the first and has plenty of little secrets in it, including some hidden optional characters. This one you probably should play to at least understand some of the characters.

No, KWRPGIII is still alive. The one that was cancelled was KWRPGII:Dream Edition, the remake of KWRPGII. The demo stopped at like, chapter 4 or something. DE is still worth checking out because everything is very well done. The reason it was cancelled, M'aiq hears, is because the developer went to help on KWRPGIII.

KWRPGIII began development soon after KWRPGII was completed, which was back in 2003 or 2004.

Wow. I remember playing KWRPGII. It was amazing. I even found out how to get the Rierimanu sword for Diskmaster.

Hell if M'aiq should know. KirbyWarrior never releases "percentages" or anything like that. He and his staff just give us the occasional tease.

From what he has read on the forum, what we see now is only a scrape off the iceberg, since they want to keep as much as they can a secret. Hell, MW says he was reluctant to add a character you meet in the first 10 minutes of the game to the official cast list for that reason.

Look, this all sounds great ...
but to me, just the slightest bit too great. I'm just not sure if all this is achievable with RPG Maker. Still, thanks for sharing this information. I should keep an eye on it.
