All television channels displayed the local Bitlands news. A Toad in a tan suit and red tie was speaking to the camera.
"We have just been informed that Grandmaster Magikoopa, Kamek Koopa, was witnessed being kidnapped by an unknown person or group of people. Witnesses say that while Kamek was walking through Bitlands City in Star Junction, he had been walking past an alley right before being taken. Witnesses could not get a good description of the kidnapper, as most witnesses described the suspect as a "shadowy type". We will update on the situation soon." |

"Huh. That's weird. I mean, I know the Kamek's old, but he's got all of those craaaaazy magic skills...who would've thought the guy would get kidnapped?

"We have found out more information about the kidnappers as they-"
The channels went static for a moment... before switching to a broadcast showing a dark and shadow-covered figure sitting in front of the camera.
"Watch and listen very carefully. If you want your precious and beloved Kamek back, then you'll have to follow our demands." He spoke in a very deep and scrambled voice.
The camera then shifted over and showed Kamek struggling, tied up and gagged to a chair.
"Mmmm! Hmmhmm!"
"If you want him back, you will need to give us ten billion coins AND the Star Rod. If you disagree... well..."
Another shadow-covered figure approached Kamek, holding what looked like a needle...
... But then, the screen went static.
It returned to the original broadcast of the Bitlands news.
"... Did you catch that?" |

"Nobody would give 10 billion coins and some powerful-sounding object for just one person. Besides, anybody considered worth that much is just going to be kidnapped back. People rarely pay their end of ransoms as is, with stakes apparently this high there isn't a chance of it working out fairly." |

The channels then switched to a pitch-black screen. The mysterious voice spoke again...
"Oops... it seems I forgot something extra. I believe we should kick things up a notch. You got a week. One week. If our demands are not recieved, your friend here will be put to a permanent sleep! So... what's it going to be?"
Then the screen returned to it's regular broadcast. |
