Dammit Sega. Secret Rings was great, so why'd you have to go and *crag* it up with this?

Well, Secret Rings made me throw up a bit in my mouth, so I wasn't expecting anything better this time.

Secret Rings killed itself in my honest opinion. I despised the controls, the movie scenes were cheap pictures, and hell, the entire game was just annoying.

But most of all... I DESPISED THE CONTROLS.

Controls weren't that bad once you unlocked a few things.

So it's basically Sonic in another game that isn't a Sonic game.

Sonic Team, do it right please. You came so close with Unleashed, but you tossed it out the window.

G33h33h33h33h33k!

Well, you know what I think Sega needs to do? Let some other developer make Sonic titles for them (In a perfect world, Insomniac), or go the route of Castlevania: release games built around the classic 2D formula on handhelds, and make titles for the "big" consoles a once in a very long time thing!

Although IGN does screw up every now and then and has a tendency to be inconsistent with their opinions, one must consider that usually their reviews are reflective of the critical consensus. Usually, that is. This could be an exception, but with a rating this brutal, I don't know.

No, I hated them because I couldn't use an analog stick. I hated holding the Wiimote on its side. I wanted to have full control instead of the game being in control, with me being the steering wheel and nothing more.

It's bad design if you have to unlock things to be able to play the game with slightly better control.

Personally, I liked the controls from the very beginning anyway, but that's what I've heard from people who didn't like them at first.

While I accept that they may be right, i'm not completely banking on reviews. I'll let a trip to a game rental store decide my opinion on this.

I'll try it out for myself first before I make a proper verdict on it.

I refuse to listen to IGN anymore. Nintendo Power gave it an 8.

No first-party magazine is unbiased. PSM, OXM, and NP all skew scores on most (also hyped) exclusives to sway people into buying them. Pity that EGM went kaput...

Thank you for your brilliant addition to this topic about IGN's Sonic and the Black Knight Review. It added so much depth to the conversation, in addition to bringing it back on course. Rolling Eyes

Anyways, I trust IGN. Most of their reviews, when I playtested the games, were spot on for me. Secret Rings sucked, so it didn't surprise me that it sucked again.
