Wikipedia wrote: | Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits is a music video game and the fourth expansion game to the Guitar Hero series. The game will feature 48 songs taken from four previous games in the series—Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock—expanding them to include support for lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, and vocal tracks in the same manner as Guitar Hero World Tour. The game is being developed by Beenox and will be published by Activision for release on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 systems in June 2009. |
So basically, we're getting some of the songs from the old Guitar Hero games, all of them will be master recordings, and will include the drum/vox experience from Guitar Hero World Tour.

Since I'm a Nostalgic Guitar Hero fag, I'll be picking this up. I'm only pissed off how it has to be on the new GH engine, which will piss me off cause I can't sing vocals for shit in GHWT as of right now.
And since the hammer ons are sricter in the new GH, Through the Fire and Flames will probably still be the hardest song. >_> |

NEW SONGS
why can't they just allow you to import your own songs, and have it auto-make the track of buttons you push? |

Because that would be too non-repetitive. |

Also, that would be a pretty cool feature, but most of the notes are computer generated and then edited by Activision/Harmonix*.
Another thing similar to your idea is just picking up a real instrument and play it. This being complete irony because I don't play an instrument myself.
*Not 100% sure. |
