Yes, marijuana has carcinogens and other harmful chemicals when burned, but probably no more than cigarettes, and this can be easily avoided by ingesting THC. Since THC is fat soluble it can easily be put into butter and made into cookies, brownies, whatever. I'm sure you've heard of hash brownies. You guys also want to know how many deaths from marijuana use occur per year? 0. yes none. There have been 75,000 alcohol related deaths per year in the U.S. alone, according to msnbc. Smoking has even more at 440,000 per year in the U.S. So why the hell is the drug that kills no one and is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to overdose on illegal?
As for Frozen, your claims of personal experience of marijuana being a gateway drug, do not reflect the majority of users. I can guarantee that there are a vast majority of cocaine users and other heavy drug users that do marijuana, or have in the past, but I can also say that the vast majority of marijuana users haven't done anything more harmful than alcohol or tobacco. Marijuana doesn't mess with your brain to make you do other drugs that is just plain false. Yes your body will build tolerance, just like it would to any other drug. But do you see people who have been drinking for years start doing heroine because they can't get drunk anymore on the same amount of alcohol? No they just drink more to get the same effect. Just like if it you build up a tolerance you would smoke more pot, not resort to a harder drug.
So why is marijuana illegal? Racism comes down to the original reason. We wanted to keep Mexicans out, if you remember in the 1920s and 30s there was very wide discrimination against immigrants.
