Do you think making M rated games on Wii is a bad idea financially? Just look at the sales for MadWorld.

Ouch. Another flop for Clover Studios/Platinum Games. House of the Dead: Overkill got only 45,000 sales too. Doesn't look like Sega will be making more M rated games.
Resident Evil 4/Umbrella Chronicles, No More Heroes, and COD:WAW did pretty well, but that's about it and considering the RE and COD series are pretty popular it's sure to sell.
What do you think about these bad sales? Are they because they are rated M or is it just that these are new IPs or not as popular franchises? |

I think the reason that M rated games are a bad choice on the Wii is that by now, most people who would buy them have already sold their consoles. |

lolyeah, even though those games suck monkey shit, they're the most popular.
Funny, how good games do terrible, while games made of shit do great. :< |

Because 90% of the Wii's userbase is that wonderful brand of "Casual" that basically means "games kids and moms will play together twice" |

Well, It would be better sale-wise to have on the PS3 or Xbox.
However I want there to be more M games.
BTW Madworld and No More Heroes are selling quite well. |

I don't have the money for Madworld. I had the chance to demo it a while ago at Comic Con, but I didn't wanna wait in line. :[
And yeah, the comparatively small sales of the M games are because of the Wii's focus on the affluent families who will buy 10 $50 that feature virtually the same gameplay. |

It's because of the appeal the wii gives off, is has this shitty kid feel to it that brings in all the causals, the kiddies, the soccer moms, etc. The reason these don't sell is because of the console it was released on, I expect most of the M-rated games to get later ported to 360 and PS3 with better graphics and added content since thats what they always do. |
