What do you think? I think that they would probably suck, unless they had the right people working on it. Like take a look at the fake trailer for Metroid: The Movie. Looks like it would be a great movie, right?

Here are some games I would like to see:

FFIV
OoT
Super Metroid
The Metroid Prime series
GTA
Fire Emblem (The GBA one with Lyn and Eliwood)
Wall•E The Game
Color a Dinosaur
Lizzie McGuire 3: The Lizzie Diaries
Superman 64
Chicken Little: Ace in Action

———————————>awesome

I'm pretty sure someone said a Bioshock movie was coming out with the third installment of the series. That's gonna be cool.

While I think there can be such a thing as a good movie based off a game, it hasn't happened yet according to the masses.

A dominantly story driven game could be possible to make into a decent movie, but everyone's too busy whoring out rights to action games to notice this.
I like how the list degraded into redundance and retardation

The problem with a movie is that it has the time limit of two hours, at most three. This is impossible to contain entire hours of gameplay, meaning it's no better than book to movie conversions, and we all know how those turn out. Only this time, it's kinda worse than that.

The only good Game-into-Movie type thing that I've seen is Escape from City 17, and that's fanmade.

I've yet to see any Game-Movie from any big company be a huge hit, so I'd have to say no.

If this extends to the Movie-to-Game branch, the Chronicles of Riddick games are pretty awesome I hear.

1) It's 5
2) That's the point. Those 5 are a joke.

It all depends on the people making the movie, really. Even a game that has hardly any story could make a good movie if the effort was put into it.

There is no point in making game based movies.

I already played the *crag* game, why do I want to watch a movie about it?

QFT.

Also, the difference between ''your actions decide' and 'main character does things according to script' is huge. Videogames and movies work on completely different frameworks of beliefs.

In a game, many details are only suggested so you can escape into its world and associate with the characters. That's why the PC is often an AFGNCAA, an "Ageless, Faceless, Gender-Neutral, Culturally Ambiguous Adventure Person" - so you can identify with them.
Seeing a movie, and having the character as the writers see it clash with your own imagination is a little bit like seeing porn of your favorite childhood series for the first time. This is why many video game movies are hated - they fill in the blank where people normally fill in themselves.

Quote:
After watching this, in mounting aghastment, I've now realized why it's so bad. It's because it's good. Unfortunately, what it's good at is being a movie of a computer game. If you've played your way through the TR games you'll realize that. The atmosphere of the locations, the way Lara runs and fires, the traps ... someone sat through all the games, taking notes. It's truer to the feel of the games than most novel-based movies are to the original novel. Time and care was spent on that. Then, since the games have no characterization, or any plot much above the level of "get all the bits", they pasted together an inconsistent load of old garbage in twenty minutes and hoped the SFX would carry it. They don't.
Terry Pratchett, on the Tomb Raider movie.

They made the movie based on the game.

The only games that deserve to be a movie are:
a live-action Pokemon. Prof. Oak would be played by Robin Williams.
some sort of Metroid movie. I'd like to see Heidi Klum as Samus.
Fire Emblem: the Movie.
