The problem is that for a lot of the Pokémon that can learn moves that are super-effective to my types, it's kindof tough to figure out such diverse movesets.

you didn't say that at all (whats in the bold) Yeah I did, it's back near the top. I said like "SSG, I'm using some of your advice. Thanks." If your fine with changing moves, post the movesets. I'm still trying to figure them out all the way. I posted so far what I think i going to be in their moves.
Quote: | Which is why most of them are getting a Fire move. |
That won't work. First of all, a well trained Froslass will attack first with a nasty Ice attack, killing your dragons in one hit before they even get the chance to move. Yes, but then I can shift to Snorlax or Metagross and use a powerful Fire move. Second, its not ONLY the ice types you should worry about, its the ice ATTACK. A Floatzel with Ice Fang, Porygon-Z with Ice Beam, Machamp with Ice Punch, etc. Giving them a fire move is not a bad idea, but lets say theres the chance of a good tanky Ice type that survives the fire attack, and the next turn it ice beams you to death. Even if you do survive, theres the chance of being frozen. I know about the attacks. The problem is that I can't get movesets diverse enough to trump every single type of Pokémon that can learn Ice moves on just one Pokémon. I'm trying to do so with the whole team combined, but I can't do it all with only one Pokémon. And lets not forget the Ice/Water dual types, which are very common, with the likes of Dewgong, Lapras, etc. Again, that's why I'm giving Snorlax Thunder.
Quote: | I'm giving it Thunder so I can cover the most possible types to do super effective damage to. |
First of all, Thunder sucks. Thunderbolt is the way to go. Thunder has 120 power and has 10 PP, compared to Thunderbolt's 95 and 15, respectively. Imo, 25 power more balances out the 5 PP less pretty well. second, Snorlax's special attack base is at 65, A FREAKIN 65! Thats one of the, if not, THE worst sp attack base in the entire game. No matter how powerful Thunder may be, it will do very low damage because snoralx's sp. attack sucks. You wanna cover the most possible types to do super effective damages? Give it Thunderpunch, its attack base is 110 so its not bad. You have it backwards. Attack is 65 and Sp. Attack is 110.
EDIT: Oh no, I read it wrong. You were right. I'm going to change Flamethrower and Thunder into Fire Punch and ThunderPunch. [/EDIT] ALTHOUGH I THINK TYRANITAR IS A MUCH BETTER SWEEPER WITH THUNDERPUNCH. Maybe. I'll see. When I refine all the movesets, I'll see which one to give ThunderPunch to. take Emil's advice and use those movesets, its much better than what you have right now. Yeah, I didn't see his advice before (I have no idea how that happened. I'm really out of it today) but yeah. The first two movesets he posted are great, and I'm going to be using those, But I'm set on my Snorlax's moveset:
ThunderPunch (Maybe giving ThunderPunch to Tyranitar. If I'm doing that, then I'll probably give Snorlax either Crunch or Return, as Emil suggested.) Fire Punch Rest Snore / Sleeptalk
Quote: | I haven't done the full movesets yet, but I already posted Snorlax's. I know Dragonite will have Hyper Beam, and either Dragonite or Salamence with have Fly. Metagross will have Agility, Meteor-whatever, and a strong Psychic move. Garchomp will have Dragon Claw and Earthquake. Other than that, I haven't thought of what to do. |
Dragonite's Giga Impact>Hyper Beam, just FYI. PROTIP: NEVER USE HM MOVES FOR BATTLING. An exception is Waterfall and perhaps Surf, since those are good water attacks. I'm only getting Surf and Fly for traveling, nothing else. I hate Garchomp because we already have too many dragon types in this game. If you want a dragon in your team that badly, use Kingdra. Although its stats are not god, its a good dragon pokemon without the ice weakness and Water STAB boost. Plus give it Dragon Dance and it will murder everything with Draco Meteor/Outrage/other physical dragon attacks. The reason I love Kingdra is because it is unique. For example, it has a unique dual type (forget Palkia) I'm not using them for the Dragon type, I'm using them because they're pseudo-legendaries. Tyranitar should have Earthquake, since its a god move. That is all. It will.
Quote: | I'm only getting that done for Tyranitar. It's double-weak to Fighting moves. |
Like I said before, don't worry about the fighting type, worry about the fighting MOVES. A Togekiss can learn Aura sphere. Electivire can learn Cross Chop. Just about anyone can learn Brick Break. All are common fighting moves that is learned by a non fighting type. Again, it's hard to try t trump every possible type that can learn a fighting move with just one Pokémon. Plus theres Lucario who is Steel and Fighting. A Psychic and Flying move won't do much for it. I know. I'm thinking of adding Fire Blast or Fire Punch to Tyranitar's mix, as well. | ———————————> |

Incorrect.

Snorlax's Special Attack is 65. Teaching a Snorlax Thunder would be like teaching a Shuckle Hyper Beam.
Edit: Whoops, I forgot that you realized you were wrong. |

Thunder pretty much never hits.

That works, but the problem is that half your team is all dragon. If you faced Frozen here, who uses all ice types, you are good as dead. Forget about the Snorlax problem, the main problem with your team is that three of your pokemon are all the same type, and all 3 share 4x weakness to ice, which is VERY bad. Even if you do switch, what if snorlax and metagross dies, then what? You might as well give up. Most people's pokemon have at least one ice move to take care of the ever common Sala and chomp. Metagross fire punch is okay I guess.

You don't need to worry about diverse movesets. That is what Sweepers are for, to sweep them in one or two hits. Super Effective does not matter at all. Remember, there are items such as Choice Band and Choice Specs. A Dodrio Return w/ choice band could even be trouble for your Snorlax.
Quote: | Thunder has 120 power and has 10 PP, compared to Thunderbolt's 95 and 15, respectively. Imo, 25 power more balances out the 5 PP less pretty well. |
The main problem is its shitty accuracy. If Thunder misses, your most likely screwed. Thunderbolt is impressive with a 95 base. 95 is pretty high. Unless you have a Rain Dancer in your team, Thunder is pretty much inferior to Thunderbolt.
You should check out Serebii's pokemon of the week, they gave pretty good movesets for BOTH Snorlax and Tyranitar.
Quote: | I'm only getting Surf and Fly for traveling, nothing else. |
Heres a thought, catch a low leveled flying or water type and give it HM moves.
Quote: | I'm not using them for the Dragon type, I'm using them because they're pseudo-legendaries. |
which makes them COMMON. Thats why ice attacks are common. I'm only suggesting that you should at least get rid of ONE dragon and put in something that is not...dragon. I can think of many other sweepers that are better than Garchomp. Try a Starmie for example, A better sweeper than Garchomp and its not weak to the common ice. Of course its weak to electric and grass and dark but you have pokemon that can take care of those.
Quote: | I know. I'm thinking of adding Fire Blast or Fire Punch to Tyranitar's mix, as well. |
Fire Blast is a risky move. Fire Punch is considered better.
I think I'll post my team to show you how i do it. maybe tomorrow. |

Team 4 has to many dragon and ground types. Almost all of them are weak to Ice type attacks. |

Do you ever take anything serious and stop being dickwee- Oh, sorry, didn't see you there, Flavio. Tyler.
Anyhow, I didn't know you could put so much effort in just Pokemon; Tournaments must be horribly hard. I just usually level two or three Pokemon and bash everything dead. *PokeNoob ?* |

I didn't know that natures made a difference (I still don't know how they do).
I have no idea how some people have time to learn all the nature combinations with different Pokémon, or how they have the time to even learn how EV's and IV's work.
