Yes, because that's what happened.
No, he got stung by a sting ray in the heart. He pulled the stinger out. I'm sad, because they doctors said that if he had left the stinger in, he would still be alive. It acted as a plug and it was keeping most of his blood in, but since it took it out, he bled to death. 
Then like six different people went in the same lake and shot a bunch of sting rays there, 'cause they didn't know which one stung him.
