Figured this game deserves its own topic.

Devil Survivor is an odd mix of strategy and traditional RPG, with your characters on the map being teams of 3 characters that enter a DQ-style battle screen with adjacent teams. It sounds slightly ridiculous, but it works surprisingly well.
Your teams are made up of human characters fighting alongside demons. You can buy demons in auctions and fuse them together to make stronger demons. It almost feels like Pokemon in a weird sort of way.
This definitely isn't a casual game what with all the numbarz and straturjy, but if you can sink your teeth into it, it's a lot of fun. ФֻФ

And what is this DQ you speak of?

Dragon Quest. Really generic JRPG series that I've never actually played. ФֻФ

Shin Megami Tensei games are almost always great, though this demon auction thing you mentioned sounds like a shitty replacement for the Demon Conversation system that most of the series uses.

I can't compare them since this is the only SMT game I've played, but the auction system isn't that bad. Well, it is bad, but you can pay extra macca (demon currency) to just buy a demon without the hassle. I have macca coming out every one of my orifices, so it's usually not a problem. ФֻФ

Go play the first two SMT games, they are very much worth your time.

I was thinking about getting both this and persona 4 once I get my paycheck.

Get Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne instead, it's allot better than Persona 4.
