My mom drank some last night and was acting all wierd. She said she wanted to go camping so I said my favorite place was this park near where we live. I hurt her feelings. THEN the cat got on the table so it was my fault somehow. Then she just unloaded on me how she hates me and I wont get friends because of "this shit"

I'm glad that I don't have a violent drunk relative. Though my mom was worse when she was completely sober. She was a crazy bitch. She made me wear a SARS mask when going outside like I was a *crag* hospital patient with lung disease.
I'm kinda scared to grow up and get married and have kids 'cause I feel like I'm going to turn into her once I have children. She was completely sane before, says my dad. I don't want to lose my friends and family like her. |

Probably the best thing to do is just be straight with her. Tell her she has a problem. She might listen, she might not; addicts tend not to realize they're addicts until they hit rock bottom, but if she doesn't meet with any resistance, she'll assume that there's nothing wrong at all. If anything, she at least deserves to know how you feel.

She doesn't drink much, but once she starts it's hard to stop for her.
