I was proofreading a friend's college application essay, and it was riddled with mistakes like that. No wonder why he only has a community college as a safety school. |

I usually don't mistake You're and your, but I do sometimes when I just don't care.

Things like this happen all the time. It even happens in other languages. In Dutch, for example, the word for "wanted" is "wilde", but everyone started saying "wou" for the similarity with other verbs. That happened so much that it was actually ACCEPTED into the language officially. |
