Yes, I know about the whole Kaizo Mario genre and how much of a waste of time it is.
The thing is, they give you so many lives so that anyone who isn't a talentless fuck who relies solely on trial and error to crawl through the levels will NOT hit the bottom of the barrel and have to start over. |

Most people just use savestates, to save sanity and time. Really though, I see no point in playing most of those kind of games exept for maybe Cat Mario, since it feautures a cat for christ's sake. |
