According to a Game Informer survey, the Xbox 360 has a 54.2 percent failure rate, compared to 10.6 percent for the PS3 and the Wii's 6.8 percent.
Also of note, Xbox 360 owners play more often than PS3 owners, which play way more than Wii owners. (keep in mind these are also people who read GameInformer)
I've only gotten the red ring of death once. And they repaired it for free. But Nintendo wants to charge me 80 dollars to fix the Wii. And who knows how much Sony would want to charge me if my PS3 broke.

They wanted to charge me a hundred or so to fix a jam in the disk reader.
I opened it up myself and used some tape to fix it in about twenty minutes for free.

I'd do shit like that if I wasn't so worried about messing it up.
I don't know who worries about this when buying. A lot of people say they don't want the red ring but that was never an issue for me. Even if you do get the rings you get a new one. Its nothing to make too many people go the other way, and yea, again, free to fix.
