SUPER MARIO WORLD (the review, with up to date ratings, and back in the day ratings)
Graphics: ---Up to date: The graphics are a bit lacking when it comes to up-to-date standards. The shading could be a bit smoother, and it could be less pixelized and more detailed. Also, Luigi could be more than a recolor. I give it a 3/10. ---Back in the day: These graphics are awesome! Such a beautiful pallette! The map sprites are a bit odd, but the actual game sprites have such detail! There are so many effects, I think I'm going to explode! I give it 8/10!
Music: ---Up to date: All of the music tracks are using the same melody. It gets annoying sometimes. 5/10 ---Back in the day: The music is so crisp! The music is just right for every level! I can listen to this stuff for hours! 10/10
SFX: ---Up to date: The sound effects are okay. 8/10 ---Back in the day: The sound effects sound perfect! Nothing is out of place! 10/10
Gameplay: ---Up to date: The game play is slightly repetitive, and it takes forever to go anywhere on the map. However, the levels are expertly designed. 8/10 ---Back in the day: The map is a bit slow, but the levels are awesome! 9/10
Bugs/ Glitches: This game is bug free and has no glitches. 10/10
THE MOMENT OF TRUTH IS ABOUT TO BE REVEALED!
Overall: ---Up to date: The gameplay is great, but the resources are a bit lacking. 7/10 ---Back in the day: Everything is awesome! 10/10 ---Personal Opinion: I'm not picky about graphics and music quality. I really admire the fact that there is no bugs anywhere. 10/10 to me. |

4/10. It's just a bunch of bullet points. You should explain your opinions. |

3/10
You miss key areas, such as "Length/Replayability", "Fun Factor", and other such things. SFX can also be incorperated into the sound category along with music.
Rating things such as story and characters also helps (WHERE IS TOAD?!)
Finally, you miss key points from the Mario series, such as bosses, power-ups, level design, and secrets.
As Francis said, it's just a mess of bullet points that show no opinion. It's bland, generic, misses key points, and basically shames this game for being made in 1991. DON'T GET IN IT'S GRILL, YO! Compare it to other games of its time, (particularly Super Mario Bros 3, arguably the best game of the "Golden Age" of video games, and the best Mario platformer) not the new-age powers of Super Mario Galaxy and such.
I'm sorry that I'm criticizing this so, but please, do try a more in-depth analysis. |
