Shiaoran steps back, crouch and jab while the attacking character is landing.
Just an explanation for those who don't know SF very well. In my first post, it's the input command for a Shoryuken. In this post, I describe the most effective way to dodge it and counterattack. |

You don't jab while doing a Shoryuken, you uppercut. |

@Sir Trentov: The deffending player is the one who should jab. Read the technique again and you'll understand. |

Of course you use the jab button when you're doing an defensive Shoryuken, because you'll have a less amount of time of vunerability when you use the jab button to execute the move. But you always do a flying uppercut when you do the attack if you want it to be a Shoryuken. |

XD
The defending player is the one who's NOT doing a Shoryuken. The attacking player is the one who is. The defending player needs to get below the attacking player when he's landing after the Shoryuken, so the defending player can jab and hit the attacking player. Got it?
Just did this myself(not meant to recreate the real ingame sequence. no sprite was edited):
EDIT: Now that I posted I found out that I forgot to make the background transparent |

Oh, well I prefer to jump and kick the Shoryuken user in the face instead. |

If you miss the jump kick, your character can get hit on the leg. It's not as safe as jabbing. |

That's why you wait for the opponent to drop first. A Shoryuken is always invincible unless you put gravity into play. |
