Shadowmaster's corpse lies on the ground. Beside is a note.
"If you are reading this, I will have passed away by now. I have one thing to say.
If you by chance, enter the Cathedral of Flames... You had best be well prepared. I'm an experienced dungeon crawler, and this one place is harder than any other I've been to. Harder than dungeons with Masters level quests. To enter this place, you must recieve the quest "Temple of the Damned", from the Charr in the Doomlore Shrine.
Before you enter... Make sure of one thing. Do not take a Minion Master with you. For one thing, the only corpses that you will find are either on the first floor, or from your killed allies. Not only that, but some of the foes you encounter will possess Verata's Aura. Your own followers will turn against you in an instant. Also, hostile monks bear Ray of Judgement. However, if you have a smiting monk with you, they would prove extremely effective... As well as a Dervish with Avatar of Balthazar.
Antimelee AND anticasting foes are scattered around the entire depths. Consider using an Essence of Cerelity, or a Grail of Might on the third floor. It would be easy to call it impossible without one of these. Oh, and bring Light of Deldrimor if you have it. Hidden treasure is scattered everywhere. I made at least one platinum from the many hidden chests.
In all likelihood, your entire party will rack up at least 30% Death Penalty before you reach the third floor.

This is a map of the third floor. Right where the boss key is (The red key), a soul known as Murakai's Steward lays. As a trailblazer, I headed into that room headfirst, not knowing what was coming.
Big mistake.
Murakai's Steward summoned many undead souls to begin decimating my entire group. Not just that, but as we reached the center of the room, I realized... 10 or 15 turrets were launching poison darts at us, at full speed. I am an assassin with a defensive build, that can reach up to 160 AL. I got taken out in less than 5 seconds. Make sure you have a longbow on hand, because it could save your life. Pull the steward off the hill and towards you, then strike.
If your ranger has Broad Head Arrows on hand, take them. Also, make sure they know Needling Shot. At the end of the dungeon is Murakai, Lady of the Night. She is a 100% caster, so you can render her useless.
If I perhaps live again, I will find more records of my travels in dungeons and make sure the world knows. Who knows, it could help a wandering hero be more successful in their raids..." |

Aaargh. Should you ever decide to try the dungeon in Shards of Orr, be SURE to bring a shotdown Mesmer or Broad Head Arrow Ranger. I spent 2 hours getting to the boss, only to start the fight and suffer a Feast of Corruption partywipe. After you actually kill the damned thing, you have to kill it's high armored partywiping soul, which reverts back to the body after a set period.
And did I mention it summons a mob of Ritspikers that can wipe you in one shot? |
