Seriously. Think about it. When your post only "LOL" or "i agree" it is not needed. If a post is funny, say why you thought it was funny not "LOL". If you agree, say why you agree. etc. Else your are is just filling the topic with pointless banter and making it harder to find the posts everyone wants to read.
The character limit is to encourage you to say more than the obvious. A forum is not a chat room. You have time to fully express your thoughts. If you have no thought then dont post. If you find yourself constantly getting around it by adding filler then DONT POST. I may start punishing those who do.
If you really feel that just "lol" and "agreed" are postive contributions to discussion then post your reasonings. |

Nobody really needs it . Most people bypass it, and most spammers post more than 10 characters when spamming.
Quote: | BE MORE ORIGINAL, PLZ |
Quote: | i have nothign to say but i want coins. |
That's all more than 10 characters. A simple post like "I agree" can indeed be helpful, knowing that your idea in Feedback is supported by the community of Digibutter. If you make a great idea, and everybody agrees that it is a good idea, if nobody posts "Supported" or "Nice idea", you don't know what anyone thinks of it unless you add a poll. Sure, somebody might add onto it a bit, but most members can't think of anything to add, and the topic gets about 2 posts.
Also, if somebody posts something completely awesome, what can you say? "EPIC WIN!"? No. "Awesome."? Nope. "BRILLIANT"? No. "I love it"? Nope, not that either. |

it really does nothing.
It's just another futile attempt that people will get around.
trust me. I've been to a dozen forums and played a dozen online games where they put minimum limits or some kind of other limiter, but it only takes a few hours for people to get around it or find a way to "bypass" censors and stuff.
When it comes to minimum character limits, you can simply use a synonym and have a wonderfully spamful, yet ten character post. |

I agree that everyone should explain their point, but sometime, when your point is what all the agree'd person said, it's somewhat impossible to find something original to say, and if the agreeing people don't post, the agree'd person feels like he failed.
Nonetheless, the character limit is always bypassed, and usually by the same way:
Quote: | Posts with less then 10 characters are probably spam. Yours has #. |
^ This one.
This render the character limit useless. On the other hand, if people would complete their posts a little with a bit more information than "Agree'd" and at least say why because of this limit, I think the limit would be great. Unfortunnally, it's not always the case...
And by the way, I DO find myself trying to make long posts to increase my post count... This post is an example... |

No. Some things take less than 10 characters to say, like a post with just an image in it. |

Well, you see, everythin that is not between ['s and ]'s and that are alphanumeric characters are considered as "characters". So the characters between the IMG tags are considered as characters.
For example, you could post only one image and that would be more than 10 characters.
I THINK... |
