okay, you probably don't care, but Nexon has censored the words "christian" and all related words.

What? Okay, so we can't say christian or christmas or christianity in school, now we can't say it in online games... please tell me what kind of evil dictator is slowly taking over the country?

Sure, we don't want to corrupt our poor little innocent children, but we can't live in fairy tale land either. Religion exists, I deal with it, everyone around the world deals with it, and children can deal with it... we don't need to protect the kids from things that won't even harm them.

If people are offended by the word cock, the word tit, the word christian, the word homo, then they're just idiots. Christian isn't an insult, it's a religion, and even though I don't support it, I see no reason to completely drive it out of the daily lives of regular people by banning the word. "Insults" are only insults if you let them be. The person in power (being the school board in school's case) does not need to ban any word just to make people feel more comfortable.

People are getting too bratty, honestly. People expect the world to conform to THEIR ideas... and no, I'm not talking about the way people dress (if you don't get the reference, then good), I'm talking about actual beliefs. If you want to say DAMN as loud as you can in the hallway, by all means, you should be able to do it. If you offend a few overprotective christian mothers, oh well.

IMO, banning any word in any place, including an online game, is infringing the freedom of speech. Despite the fact that it is a global game, they should conform to basic global laws... meaning that they should NOT be able to infringe upon rights that are given to almost every country, such as freedom of speech.

well whatever. If you read all of this and comprehended it, you get an A+. Bye now.

This argument is heavily flawed. People are not idiots for being offended. Freedom of speech is no longer freedom of speech once you start violating anyone's privacy. For example I could hypothetically call you a "slut ass bi bitch" and things are no longer fun and games, rallying against "the man" who is not letting you say that in certain online medium because you may get offended and not play their game anymore. I really don't think they want to lose customers do they? As well we have freedom of religion and if you use the word in such a manner as "Christians are stupid" you are now violating someones beliefs, which I know you don't care much about but some people do. They aren't trying to hide religion, they are trying to protect freedom of religion and by extension not violating freedom of speech.

OBJECTION!

I think that banning any Christian related word is going too far. If the Christian religion is to be censored, why should all other religions be able to talk about theirs in public without fear of being offensive?

In truth, I'll keep saying "Christmas", no matter how many people I apparently "Abuse" by saying the name of a freakin' holiday.

That's kind of sad really.
But the rules as far as my school district goes are this: The teachers can't talk about religion unless A: It's a part of the curriculum or B: Another student brings up religion. It's weird like that.

It's not a matter of censoring a religion, it's a matter of people being insulted for their religion.

So what ? They can change their religion if they want to. I think the problem is than people don't view each others believes, dreams, opinions, etc. as equal. I think it's stupid to censor the word christian. Are Jew, jewish, nazi, muslim, hindu or anything like that censored ? *Gotta go test that this evening*

It's true that freedom of speech stops where you infringe someone elses freedom. But there's also freedom of opinion. You may think that christians suck and you may say so. I mean, I can say (HYPOTHETICALLY) that I think that everyone who buys the PS3 must have brain cancer. There. Did that get censored ? You will find people who agree, and you will find people who are offended by that statement. There are always two sides of the medal. The problem is, though, that the world is filled with vacuum heads who thinks their ideas, ideals and believes are the best, and the rest is worthless crap, so everyone should do what they do. And if they don't, insult them, hurt them, maybe even kill them, *crag* them, maim them.
I think that's the problem - "Be like me or DIE."
And the authorities react by bringing down anything remotely feeding those people, insults, religions. Which is totally useless. They should stop the censoring and just kick such people out and get them into a social skill course.

I'm sorry popple, I'm just an ignorant little kid after all.

I don't know everything, and I don't know as much about the government as 90% of everyone else in the world, but I certainly try my best to sound semi-intelligent.

forgive me if I sound or sounded stupid... whatever.

Phantasy Star Universe is worse.

They even muted the word "SEGA", and they MADE the damn game.

They own the game, they make the rules.
Obviously they feel that no real-life topics should be discussed in game, so banning real-life words is the quick and easy solution.

Maybe one day they will take it so far as to convert your text into a predefined in-game sentence.

How can the makers of a massively multiplayer online role playing game expect people to discuss the game and only the game whilst playing? A major part of MMORPGs is the community, and often your social circle may have people you know from outside of the game. You aren't going to talk solely about the game. They are pushing the envelope too far.

Okay...

If you;re insulted by people talking about your religion or other religions, IGNORE IT. Nexon can censor whatever... It's just... Christian words are ceing censored in society, too.

"Happy Holidays". 'Nuff said. "Merry Christmas, ect." Screw censorship, even though there are other other religions, we can't forget about one of the world's most widely practiced ones.

No offense to any non-Christian people, I'm nonreligious, myself, so...

The opnion is fine, you are just not considering the fact that this is a company that likes members and their money.

And don't feel bad, Dimentio will probably come in here soon and hand my logical ass to me.

Too tired to post a long post, but for once I agree with you Daisy. Seriously, I was reading the Bible at school, and the idiotic teacher told me to put it up D: Seriously, we can't celebrate Christmas, yet we learn about hannuka and Kwanza which I speeled both completely wrong D: It's REVERSE DISCRIMINATION! Seriously, we have Black history month and hispanic heritage month, but if you announce a Whit heritage month, It's RACIST!

You do realize a very large chunk of history taught is school would be considered "White History." As well this is America, we grew up here and in Europe. Some African Americans and people of Mexican decent as well as others have become very detached from their culture.
