When asked what I want to do when I "grow up", the one thing that comes to my mind is "NOTHING". I want to do nothing.
but that's hardly plausible, so I have to shuffle through my mind. You've seen me type... I'm at the ripe old age of 15 and I type like I'm 20 sometimes. I obviously excel in English... naturally, I want to write a novel and become a millionaire, but that's not so likely either.
So the next thing that came to mind was me being a programmer. I abhor doing mathematical equations, however, and this was quickly thrown away.
So what am I left with? Something to do with writing. But what? When I jokingly say I'll work at home, my father is quick to tell me "WELL HOW WILL YOU GET THE MONEY TO BUY A HOME?". Brilliant question.
What AM I to do? Work fast food until I get enough inspiration to write an entire novel, and then get so far as to have my book published, and then make my lovely 10% of the money from the books sold?
Sadly, the most likely thing I will be forced to do is either do slave work (aka boring, meaningless work behind a desk) all my life, or live in a box.
It's so depressing. My parents wouldn't be much help, because my father already makes things worse with his little speeches that tell me that after college, if I even get the lovely opportunity to GO to college, I'm on my own...
Is it really true... you live, you work, you die? Is there really no possibility of a "dream job", a way to get money by doing something you love?

Whacka-Doo! Well....being a whacka....I can't truly help you out very much except give you some meaningless advice. Whack-Hoo!
Er....
Maybe you should worry about trying to get as many qualifications as physically possible within the short and essential time you still have left to create a severe impact on your future endeavours before you go trying to find out what your career is going to be. Just do what you can, to the fullest of your capacity and then seek advice on the jobs that you are entitled to from your array of qualifications.....

The job on the top of my list is cook.
My only regret in life is being a lazy person, who can't do anything right.
Oddly enough, when I'm dressed with a T-Shirt and a pair of Pants, I gain some motivation. But that was a random comment.
The only thing I could say to you, is to leave your computer for 5 minutes, and go out there. Even just for a walk.
The advice is way better in winter, early in the morning when the sun is about to rise, or the evening when it just went down.
If you live in a big city, a little city, or in a village without too many people, you may be surprised of how many thing can get your attention. Inspire yourself of theese, and you might see a career for you, or even inspiration to write. If you can, bring a notepad and pen.

to be honest, I don't care for the outside world, as it doesn't care for me.
My inspiration comes from other novels I read. In fact, my entire writing style is based heavily around the writing style of authors whose books I enjoyed. |

The reality is that very few people make a lot of money doing what they love. So, you have a few options:
A. Go to college, get a degree in something generic, get a job doing something you dont hate, working with people you dont hate. Then do you what you really like in your free time.
B. Go to college to learn more about what you love doing (like writing). Get an OK job that has something to do with that. In your free time do what you really like to do.
C. Dont go to college. Just get whatever job it takes to get by. Spend most of your other time doing what you love doing, in hopes that you will become famous. (will never happen though).
The best option is B. Stay somewhere in the same industry of what you really want to do. You get more opportunties that way, and be around people who like the same things you do. |

it's just that all my life I got the "you can be anything you want!" treatment. Of course I only believed it until about age 8, but it's not any less engraved in my mind.
It's just so depressing that I have to do monotonous work until I retire, and at that age, it's pointless to even be alive, because the things I like to do require far more than a crippled, shaky old hand. |

I considered suicide before.
Then I realized that I enjoy my thought processes far too much to simply blast them out of my skull with a sawed-off shotgun. |

But do you reaaaly know what you want? Youll change your mind a few times over the next 5 years im sure. So if you just point yourself in the right direction for now and youll eventually end up doing what you enjoy.
So, sounds like your first step is to look into schools where you can learn about writing/journalism. And hopefully get some experience too. |
