Super Paper Mario:

Thousand Year Door:

Paper Mario 64:

Merlon, the wizard takes his role by helping Mario in his quests. He's gone through so many changes that he may change again, if there is a next one. Then he's got a large family. There's Merlee, Merluvlee, and there's more.

The Merlon in Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door may, in fact, be a different Merlon than the one in the first Paper Mario. This is because Wonky, information giver in Rougeport sewers, states there is a fortune-telling clan that names its members after their role in the clan. Perhaps the name "Merlon" indicates a certain role or ability one performs in the fortune-telling clan. When I read this information from Wonky, I never new that it could be a descendent. That's probably why they look different.

According to Carson (bartender in Flipside or Flopside forgot which one), the Super Paper Mario version of Merlon once fell in love with Saffron the cook. He went to her cooking shop each day and wooed her constantly. One day, he finally confessed his love to her. She said that if he finished a Saffron Special Galatic meal (one of the biggest, most filling dish anyone had ever seen), she would believe in his love, and so he dug right in. Spectators say he finished all but a little bit of parsley left on the plate. Suddenly, a poor, injured girl entered the town. Merlon had to help her, so Saffron suspended the challenge for him. He had become engrossed into his studies ever since, and he never got the chance to go back to the challenge. I would have never thought Merlon would go out and do something like this but I guess all people do it, eventually.

That girl, however, was so badly injured that Merlon had no choice but to use a dangerous type of magic to save her. A type of magic his ancestors had forbidden themselves from suing after a terrible catastrophe thousands of years ago...

Today, the girl has vanished. Nobody in Flipside knows what became of her. Only a name flies between the dimension...

Lady Timpani.

lol, or maybe he won't be in the game after all, considering it might take place on Luigi's adventure.
