In a hidden location in the Mushroom Kingdom...a few yards away from the Princess's castle, there stand a small wooden shack with a sign on the front door badly carved out of wood reading "POpPlEz HiDEoUtZ". A small green creature walked out from inside and nailed a piece of paper to the door. It was written on with crayons and said "Looking for new sidekick. Inquire within."
