A truckload of new Nintendo news came in overnight (see IGN's translation of the live blog)... downloadable Wi-Fi Dr. Mario, Pokemon Ranch Channel, and Final Fantasy:CC. And a DS demo channel! Now most of this info is Japan only, but expect to see similar announcements for other areas at E-For-All next week.
New Games:
1up wrote: | Nintendo of Japan (via a live blog from Japanese gaming magazine Gemaga) has revealed three new games the company has in development: Fire Emblem on Nintendo DS, Wii Music (which we already knew about, but haven't heard about since E3 2006) and Super Mario Stadium Baseball.
|
Wii Ware Games Nintendo's offering of new original games via Wii Channel.
IGN wrote: | In Pokemon Bokujou Channel (that's English for Pokemon Ranch Channel), you transfer your your Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl on the DS to your Wii. You can then manage the Pokemon in a ranch environment. You're free to bring your Mii and your family's Miis to your ranch and can do things like taking pictures of your Pokemon which can then be sent to friends.
Dr. Mario & Saikin Bokumetsu (the Japanese at the end translates to "Bacteria Extermination") is a remake of the classic Dr. Mario puzzler. You can make your Mii appear in place of the Mario characters, and can challenge friends over Wi-Fi. The game includes the Saikin Bokumetsu game from the Japanese Brain Age 2, which can now be play cooperatively with four players.

Quote: | Following today's announcement of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for Nintendo's Wii Ware download service, Square Enix has opened up an official webpage for the game, fully titled Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Chiisa na Ousama to Yakusoku no Kuni (Little King and the Promised Country).
The page is in teaser form at the moment and provides only a few pieces of artwork and story details. The game will tell the story of what happened after the original Crystal Chronicles. The Little King of the subtitle, who lost his kingdom due to the events of the first game, gains from the crystals the power to build things. He uses this to revive his fallen kingdom. The game's genre is "Country Building RPG."
Also revealed at the page is release information for the game. Crystal Chronicles will be available for download at a cost of 1,500 Wii Points. It will be available, in Japan, simultaneously with the start of the Wii Ware service, which is expected in March 2008.
This may be a mini project, but it has a series staff list. Serving as director is Kenichiro Yuji, who previously worked on Front Mission Online. Motome Toriyama, of Final Fantasy XII and X-2 fame, is directing the game's scenario. You'll recognize Toshiyuki Itahana, art supervisor, and Kumi Tanioka, composer, from past Crystal Chronicles games. |
New Channels:
Quote: | Mii Contest Channel is a channel for showing off your Miis to other players. This channel will include a plaza where you can take home the Miis that other players have created, and a contest mode where everyone judges your Mii.
Minna no Nintendo Channel (Everybody's Nintendo Channel) is the long-awaited Wii implementation of Nintendo's DS Station retail kiosk. Using this channel, you'll be able to view promotional videos of upcoming titles and download DS game demos. The service will also include search features that assist in finding games that suit your needs based on a database that's built out of information from other Wii players.
The new channels will both be available in Japan in November.

Online Dr. Mario sounds awesome, and so does the Everybody's Nintendo Channel. The Mii Contest Channel... not so much. I bet we'll be seeing a lot of duplicates there. Getting to trade Miis with other players like that without having to register ther Wii Friend Code does sound kinda useful, however.
...Online Dr. Mario... awesome~ |

Pokémon Ranch Channel? If Rare were still with Nintendo, Viva Piñata would've been changed into a Pokémon Ranch game, where you raise, breed, and evolve Pokémon on the ranch-based environment, and you'd have bonus Pokémon that can get transferred into Diamond & Pearl if you meet certain requirements. |

Online Dr. Mario is cool. (But tetris is better.)
All I want to know is why Square keeps making these not multiplayer FFCC games. The only one that resembles the original is Rings of Fate and it doesn't even have Wifi which would make the game almost perfect. |
