Okay, I just had the sudden urge to tell this to someone. D:
Okay, on the menu screen, when you're picking your character, there should be one button that you press to change the color of the character, and another one for costume change. There would be multiple colors for each costume.
Example: I'm playing. I'm using the GCN controller. I go to Mario. I press the Y button to change the costume into Dr. Mario, and then press the X button to change to the color black.
Examples for costumes would be:
Mario: Dr. Mario
Wario: Normal outfit instead of WarioWare costume
Link: Magic armor
Luigi: Mr. L ('cept 3-D)
This would also prevent stupid clones, and it would prevent people who LIKE clones to be yelling at their TV that Dr. Mario isn't in. Some costumes could be unlocked in some sort of Smash store. This would not change your character's attacks, just appearance.
Should I mail this to Nintendo (where can I mail it to them? lolzorz)? Well, I think it's good no matter what you guys say.  |

Honestly, with lack of the fact that Dr. MArio (or Young Link?) are in yet might just mean this is possible. I honestly wouldn't be surprised.
Remember in Melee, there was a Daisy color scheme for Peach, but it didn't look qhuite like her? They could do this to solve that.
It would also help people who hate the Red/Blue pkmn trainer. |

Well, this has an upside and a downside.
Downside: There aren't clones of everybody, I'd take quite some creativity to create a 'costume' or 'alternate character'. Of course, you could always hold some fan contest, but it might get out of control...
Upside: It's a good idea, and there are a lot of possibilties, but some might be too much like the original character. The way it would work would be like the 'maniac striker system' from King of Fighters 1999-2001. Every character had an alternate character or look to use.
