Even if I am leaving, I'd like Digibutter to grow into a successful community. Over my time on the Internets, I've seen many a forum come and go like the wind, and - although it's taking a longer amount of time - I can see the beginnings of this in Digibutter, as well.
In the end, it always ends up one of two ways:
1. An abandoned site (doubtful)
2. A site filled with meaningless posts and spam (very likely)
One of the common misconceptions about forums is that they require a spam forum. This is, quite frankly, complete bullshit. No, people will not suddenly rampantly spam everywhere without a place for it (although, if Francis does end up removing off-topic, I fully expect people to do so just to prove me wrong). Before The Dump was introduced, Digibutter was not, shockingly enough, all that spammy.
The fact is, if people have a place to post just about whatever they want, they will start to post there more than the other forums. People will attack me for saying this, claiming that they wouldn't post that often anyway, but guess what? Before spam forums were introduced to Digibutter, EVERY other forum was active - yes, even the Digital Butterflies forum.
Yeah, this is ironic coming from me, one of Digibutter's most notorious spammers.
Another thing is that Role-Play Off-Topic's rules aren't getting enforced at all. It's still filled to the brim with pointless posts. Get rid of all the spam. Hell, I even support Popple's rule.
He still sucks, though. |

Thank you for this, Fancy. This is why I left for a month. I do not want to roll around in spam for the rest of my life before reaching one intellegent conversation. I long for the days where digibutter was more than passing fads and Off-topic posting.

It is very sad to see that you leave, and I would really be relieved if I would see you stay.
I feel I must thank you for being the voice of what we didn't want to hear. If we want to stop Digibutter from slowly falling apart, we should really take Fancy Warios advice, so much is sure for me.
I will go now to the feedback forum, no, I will send Francis a PM with a special suggestion. |

I rarely go in RPOT, mainly cause I have no idea what anyone is talking about because I dont know most of the characters. So I apologize if the forum really has filled with useless spam. But, I do see that the mods have been striking blatant spam. I think the problem is that everyone has different spam toleration levels. One man's spam is another mans treasure.
Maybe I need to start a RP General Discussion forum to seperate the "normal" topics from the "abnormal" topics. |
