I think many of you people over there In America still have trouble getting a Wii nowadays, and Nintendo announces that they simply cannot produce more units and that they will be unable to meet the demand by christmas. Many Blogs have therefore lend an ear to the rumors, which state that Nintendo makes an artifical shortage, because, quite frankly,

.

On a related sidenote, here in my hometown, in the electronics store I regularly visit, two Wii units are left unsold and have started to be really fancy dustcatchers. I haven't heard of a european unit shortage.

Hm...
I think the shortage is not on purpose, to be honest. Most rumors are not or only partially true. Perhaps the truth is a combination of the rumors and my opinion, but I'm not sure. That picture made me laugh, by the way.

Nintendo's goal is to not have any overstock, so it comes down to trying to guess how many are needed, and then shooting slightly under that amount. I think at first they way underestimated the number of units needed, but now I think they have it about right. You can find a Wii if you know where to look (hint, dont try any toy/videogame stores). If you wait till Christmas to pick one up though, you might have some trouble, just like any other must-have item.

I found mine at the Battle Revolution tourney's at Gamestop, chu, though there does seem to be a shortage. I have to totally agree with Francis here, chu.

Anyway, stuff like that happens. I think Francis is right about Nintendo
not wanting to overstock.
