Depends on the genre.
If it's RPG, than make it RPG Maker 2000/2003/XP. I prefer 2000.
If it's Platformer, Game Maker 7.
Anything else, probably Game Maker. |

I've been working with GameMaker 7 for a long time, and I'm pretty sure it's the very best one. And it was made by a Dutch person, just like me!  |

It's her CPU I'm using and she doesn't want this one to crash. I've downloaded too much stuff and she's being paranoid. >_>

There's always BYOND, but it's not a very friendly place anymore.
Plus it's not good for anything other than Online games. |

Which GameMaker you should use depends on what exactly you want to make. If you want something specific like an RPG, RPGmaker would be OK, but if you want something that does everything and is simple GameMaker is still the best choice you can make. |
