Uh... since I'm probably never going to need to use the Poison Shroom I buried, or the Life Shroom I have... I'll give away my Life Shroom to the first person who answers my pirate quiz question correctly.
Ok! Question! What are the 3 parts of grog, and what are they there for?
Post replies here... and... GO! |

You're forgetting one.
And btw, what the question is asking, is what's the benefit of drinking grog as opposed to just rum/just water.
Look on Wikipedia if you didn't know. All self-respecting pirates should know this... |

First of all the items are wrong, and second of all there isn't enough info.
You people keep guessing, I'll be on late tomorrow. Gots to play some Pokemon, then go to bed.
C'mon. You guys suck at being pirates. |

Two ingredients are rum and water and modern grog can also include lemon/lime juice, cinnimon or sugar. |

Well, Mimi's got the ingredients. And researching is OK... all good pirates should know this stuff!
Anyhow, I'll give Mimi the prize.
Answer is - the fresh water stored in barrels in the ship grew algae and stuff in it, so drinking it would be really gross. When given rum, though, the sailors drank too much of it, got drunk, and were often injured while working due to their drunkenness. Soooo... you mix the narshty water and the rum, and you get something that tastes better than the water aaaand doesn't get you as drunk as the rum! Lemon-lime juice was also very beneficial to put in it... not only does it improve the taste, but adds vitamin C to help prevent scurvy! Yay grog! The word "groggy" also comes from grog... it originally referred to the slight drunkenness that one gets from drinking watered-down alcohol.
And thus concludes today's Pirate Skool lesson. XD |
