After BBC, most or all PS3s are automatically signed up for, well, World Community Grid or BOINC, but THEY get an entry into the Guiness World Record book for it.
I honestly don't know whether to be joyful or angered - Joyful because actually something is done or angered because it might be just for the publicity and also computers, many more computers then PS3s, did that since years and didn't get any fancy pants entry for it.
Your opinion ? Should this go to Wii too ? |

I also think this should go to Wii, too, because if you have Wi-Fi and have WiiConnect24 actibe, you could get your butt to contribute to society a bit.

The reason the PS3 is getting recognition for this is because it is incredibly better at doing folding @ home than any PC has evern been. Like in a few months, folding @ home on the PS3 surpassed all the work that any PCs had ever done. Now only if the games could make good use of that blast cell processing! |

having a fast processor doesn't matter much if it doesn't have any good games though.
also, yay curing diesease? too bad sony's geting paid for it. |

Actually, Pure, they aren't. Any pertipiciants in folding @ home dowload a client who uses any digital resourcec - CPU power, etc. - you don't use whilst being online in order to do calculation. You don't get anything for doing that except for a better sleep at night.
Also, doesn't that mean that no PS3 game really uses the thing ? |
