A colorless world... empty, pale. A blank canvas, yet to be the bearer of a masterpiece. No joy, no sadness... no anger.

Nothing.

Nothing, that is, except for Fate.

And so it was that Fate ordained for light to creep into that world... and for a purpose to be given. Good and evil... love and hate... elation and despair... joyful peace, and bloody war. All would be painted in the eyes of Fate, eternal power above. Or could it be something else?

Who is the painter?

What... is the meaning of this existence, of this very world... what is OUR meaning?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A very abstract RP, I decided to make this... well, for the hell of it... and on a sudden random inspiration, really. Razz Here's the interesting bit: There is no sign-up sheet. Why? Because the way it works is... you join. Yes... simply join. You do NOT specify or post as or in character (don't use Alts). You start as a being whose image cannot be described, save for a blank emptiness of sorts. You can speak, and move, and think - and that is all, at first. Over time, more and more color and material things will begin to appear within this world, which doesn't even have a name yet. The same thing will happen to you. You will slowly develop, becoming your character... adopting a name... taking on a purpose.
Should be interesting to see what characters are born within this world. Wink
So yep... join any time! YOU will help to shape this world - and yourself!
My starting post (keeping it quite simple):
There was nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Until, quite suddenly...
Out of the darkness, two beings emerged...
The half-formed figure rose, its faceless gaze unseeing. Yet wild thoughts ran through its conscious...
What was this place?
What... am I?
A single perfect sphere of an undefined diameter appeared. Its nameless color reflected nothing; its surface neither rough and matte nor glossy and flawless.
A being of rather generic structure made it's appearance, just rising out of the ground, with no type of hole or exit behind it. What would this location be? Who are these beings?
Finally, the second one spoke.
"This place is... strange. And on that note, who am I? Who are any of us?"
Another small shape manifested in this empty - or so it once was - void.
It looked a little like a turtle, something similar to how Shellcreepers - the primative form of Koopas - looked. But it was still very underdeveloped.
The shape was curled up into a fetus position, just... floating.
It seemed almost as though it was asleep.
The sphere created sound patterns in the fashion of an unremarkable voice.
"Define 'strange'."
"Strange?" Asked the basic humanoid. "Strange means you think it's not basic, not something you would see commonly." He pointed his gaze and finger(Well, what looked like it) towards the floating, fetus looking being. "Like that. That's strange."
"I some how understand most of the terms you are using, but I cannot understand the adjectives. 'Basic' and 'common', I do not understand."
The fetus-like shape began to grow, its body became more definite.
Eventually, it had developed enough into a Koopa Hatchling to open its eyes - its shell had yet to manifest, as did its gender.
"A- ... ah...?"
After a couple minutes, it spoke again.
"Ha-low." It had managed to say 'hello'.
"Basic, and common, sphere, mean you see them almost every fragment of time. You can relate to them."...Oh, hello, being. Welcome to the land without true atoms or matter, without any type of time true time frame, without detail...I'm not sure if that's what this area is."
A small dot appeared. This dot slowly expanded into a line, and then into other lines. Very soon, a stick figure of sorts could be seen.
"What I don't understand," the figure, who seemed to have taken a shape similar to an animal, mused, "Is why we are here. This seems to be a blank canvas..."
And then a thought dawned upon him.
"And do you know what canvases do?" he asked.
The sphere, which appeared to be floating in midair, lowered itself on what seemed to be the ground. It did not like the feel of solidity underneath it, so it rose up again. A mark the same undefined color as the sphere was left on the impact spot. The sphere did not notice it, possibly blind or inattentive.
"No, I do not know what a 'canvas' is."
