[Yellow Magikoopa]

*To former castle guards search the twice previously raided fort to salvage gold*

"So... you're certain it's in this very hallway?" asked the first guard doubtfully.

"Yes, that's right. See that statue?" The second guard said. *The two birds stared at a marble bust of their old captain.* "All you have to do is twist the nose clockwise... then counterclockwise... then clockwise again! There!"

The two pirates stepped back as the statue began to shake. A large doorway formed behind it.

"See? We've hit the motherload now!" boasted the second pirate.

They then traveled into the black, inky darkness of the ancient castle's catacombs, unaware of exactly who or what was down there...

Strengths: Creative, slightly graceful/flexible, some wit, and a bag full of Mario items
Weaknesses: Poor physical power and a tendency to get into trouble ( xD; )

"...Dangit. I'm lost."
Devin scratched her head and looked at the map in confusion. "Why did I even buy a map from that lame Charlieton guy? ...Because the other map shop was closed, that's why. Double crud."
Looking up, she soon saw a strange building on the horizon. Some sort of...castle?
Heck, the Mushroom Kingdom was full of 'em, she knew. She had spent most of her social-lifeless-life addicted to Mario games, after all.
She shrugged and approached the castle, hoping she'd find help inside.

[Yellow Magikoopa]

Our... er... "heroes" continue their way down the dank passageway.

"*Hack!* Ugh... this is miserable. The air is just unbreathable." A pirate complained.

"Quit complaining! Back when I had this shift, we had gooms working down here. If they can handle this, so can you."

As they continued to walk down, they saw a light. A Candlelight, to be precise.

"Huh."

The second pirate turned to his friend. "What's up?"

"This place is abandoned, right? That can't be, though. If this castle was completely evacuated, a flame from beforehand couldn't last that long."

"Alright, Mr. Bill Nye, so you're saying someone beat us here?"

"Maybe..." he said, "...or maybe something never left here! Maybe this castle ISN'T abandoned!"

"You know, you might have a point there." The first pirate worriedly said as they walked towards the light. Finally they reached the candle, its flame dancing on the wick healthily.

"It's locked." the first pirate said disappointedly.

"WHAT?!? NOW how are we gonna get in here?"

"I'm certain there's a key SOMEWHERE..." The first pirate said, slightly annoyed by his friend's impatience.

"I say we go find it. It must be somewhere in this castle." The first pirate hastily remarked as they began walking back up the stairs.

Approaching the castle, Devin noticed that it looked to be very old. There probably wasn't anyone inside...But she had to at least try.
She knocked on the door, unsure of what exactly to say. "Um...Hello?"

*The door creaks open, releasing stale, months-old air from deep within the castle*

The two baddies walked down a swanky corridor of the overly-decorated castle.

"This is taking too long. I just want my gold!" the second pirate thought to himself.

Devin almost instantly began hacking on the stale, musty air. "Yuck," she muttered, rubbing her nose.
She paused, then took a step inside and called out again. "Um...Anybody home?"

The more sensible-hearing of the duo heard a sound ringing in his ear drums. "Hey! You hear that?"

"No, stop stalling. If you're bored, it's not my fault."

"No, listen"

After standing there for a while, the sound was heard again.

"Oh, I hear it this time!" the second pirate said. "Looks like we got company..."

The two hurried toward the noise, hoping for its source to be friendly.

Devin was just beginning to leave, thinking that the castle was vacant, when she heard noises. She turned back. Someone had spoken, she was sure of it...
"Anybody there?"

[Yellow Magikoopa]

"Heh, it's getting closer!" a pirate exclaimed.

"It can't be hostile. Listen to that voice! It certainly doesn't sound like a beast."

the pair ran around the corner and into sight of the front door...

Devin blinked as two strangers came into view.
"Um...hi," she said, for want of anything better to say. She could be talkative at times, but was for the most part rather uncomfortable around new people, and this was a sort of awkward situation. Were they the only two people here...?

[Yellow Magikoopa]

"Hi!" The first pirate (Of the normal, mace-flinging variety) said. "I'm Patch. This here is Jay."

Jay didn't feel like introducing himself.

"Hey there. Please let me jump to this: how the HECK did you find this place?"

Devin frowned a bit. She didn't like something about these guys.
"Uh...I got lucky, really. I bought a lame map and got seriously lost." She waved the bogus piece of paper and shrugged. "I'm guessing this is nowhere near Toad Town?"

[Yellow Magikoopa]

"Ch, got that right, missy," Jay snorted, "In fact, we're MILES away from any mainland. Your best bet is to stay with us..."

The DD adjusted his goggles, while his mace-armed comrade merely nodded.

Devin felt a sweatdrop glide down the side of her temple.
"Um...Maybe not," she said. "Sorry, but I don't think that would really work."
She edged away a little bit, as if moving towards the door. "So...Thanks anyway, I guess."

"...You DO know that the wilderness surrounding this castle is filled with savage, native gooms, carnivorous plants, and did I mention... wolves?" Patch infromed.
