[Crappy Blue Luigi]

So, I recently rented it from a local movie rentals place. Let's see how long I can go before run out of breath and/or patience.


Story - There doesn't really seem to be one. It's just Mario characters and Sonic characters competing at the Olympics.


Gameplay - There's a total of 16 characters to choose from;
Mario side: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Bowser, Yoshi, Wario, and Waluigi.
Sonic side: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Dr. Eggman (whom I shall refer to as THE EGGMAN from now on), Shadow, Blaze, and Vector.

So far, I haven't unlocked anything, so this review might get updated in the future. There are 8 events to play; Athletics, Gymnastics, Shooting, Aquatics, Fencing, Table Tennis, and two others which I haven't gotten yet. Most events allow you to charge up speed before they start by holding down B when READY! appears on screen.

Athletics has two subevents, Track and Field, respectively. Track has five separate games. 100 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles, and three others. In 100 meter dash, you alternate moving the Wiimote and Nunchuk up and down to run, though you can use only the Wiimote as well. In 100 meter hurdle, you do the same as in the 100 meter dash, but you press B when you reach a hurdle to jump over it. With good timing, you can also gain some speed.

Gymnastics has a Trampoline event and something else. In Trampoline, you swing the Wiimote up with the correct timing to jump off the trampoline and higher into the air. After you reach 7 meters of height, you'll have to start inputting commands as shown by icons on screen. If you don't think fast, it's very hard to keep jumping and doing the commands.

Under Shooting is Skeet. If you know the clay shooting game from Duck Hunt, then there's no need for me to explain. If you don't, then what are you waiting for?! Go play Duck Hunt! It's better than this event, that's for sure! *ahem* Moving on...

Aquatics features 100 meter Freestyle swimming, and a four person relay version of the same. Each character has a different swimming style. It's best you learn them from playing before you really try to win. This event happens to be my favorite. As you swim, there'll be a heart meter next to your character. When it gets low, press the B button to regain energy. Repeat until you reach the other end, where you lift the Wiimote to bounce off the wall without losing speed, which is somewhat difficult to do. 100 meter Freestyle x 4 will make you lose your breath in 10 seconds. I'm sure of it.

Fencing has the event, "Individual epée". You use the Nunchuk to move forward and backward, while the Wiimote acts as your sword. Many moves can be performed with it, and I will not go into detail. Get points by stabbing your opponent to death. :P

Table Tennis is much like Wii Sports Tennis, but at the same time, not. It can be hard at first, but once the get the timing down, it's a piece of cake. Not much else to note here.

This game's mostly good if you need to burn off a few pounds. :P I give the gameplay a 8/10. Could've been executed a bit better, but meh.


Sound/Music - The sound effects are nice. They're very realistic, but that just means they recorded actual things happening for sounds.

The voices are great. And by that, I mean Team Mario's. Team Sonic's are okay, I guess. There's only one thing I really don't like... Damn you to Hell, Griffith.

The music is fine, I just don't see why they have jazzy dancing kinda music for playing a game of table tennis. You can unlock extra songs for use in the Gallery, so that means it's pointless. :P ( :P count = 3 ) 6/10 (ONE DOCKED FOR GRIFFITH)


Fun Factor - I'd say its pretty fun. Not the best out there, mind you, but fun. Though, Mario ans Sonic could have met in a better way than this. Makes me really anticipated for Brawl. <3 7/10


Rent or buy? - RENT. FOR GOD'S SAKE, RENT. This game should NOT be bought unless it's for a collection, and I pity if you collect games like that.


Overall - SEGA did a decent job with this, I must say. Once again, could've been done better, but oh well. 8/10 is my final score.
