I absolutely love 2-D animation, and was glad to see it make a bit of a comeback with Enchanted. It was mostly live action, but the parts that were animated looked fantastic. It was full of references to older Disney movies, too. Most of the background music was instrumental versions of songs from their other movies. And of course, at the end everyone lives happily ever after. Before I saw Enchanted I was pretty much convinced that traditionally animated films were dead, but now I'm convinced that Disney still has a few more good movies in them. Their next film is supposed to be full 2-D animation, set in New Orleans during the 1920's, and I'm really looking forward to that. |

Meh, for some reason I hate Disney. I'll probably end up seeing this movie anyways, as the rest of my family wants to |

Good to see that Disney's paying a bit more attention to what made them famous, in the first place. |

I was dragged into the movie. My impressions:
The first 10 minutes, while extremely well-animated, was so sickly sweet. Think Snow White mashed-up into 10 minutes, and the evil witch wins by pushing her down a well.
The acting is very convincing by all supporting cast members. Except these wierd Jamacian guys who start a musical number, but it's a musical number. Like Grease, it's not supossed to make sense, it's supossed to be a musical.
Meanwhile, the princess teaches a guy what "true love" is all about. This is very disappointing. From commercials, this movie was shipped to me as a comedy, but came to be another story. However, the comedy is true genius. When a little girl who likes the princess says that she shouldn't wear too much makeup because guys "only want one thing", it made me crack up. Of course, neither knew what that thing was, so that made the moment all the sweeter.
Sadly, it gives too much character development to more minor characters. The villan's assistant seems to have a love story gone horribly wrong with the evil queen lady, and is actually featured more than the main villaness herself! Admitedly, this wasn't a downer, considering that assistants are more entertaining to watch than the main antagonist. However, like some scenes in Bee Movie, his story seems rushed, and goes right back to the princess and some guy.
However, the story is admitedly well-done and finely-polished. While the story is so pathetically predictable for the last 15 minutes it's scary, the animation is wonderful in them.
Overall, I suggest this to any devoted Prance of the Unicorns fan, or someone with a younger sibling, preferably female. It kept mine shut up until she saw me looking at videos of Rayman Raving Rabbids. It's not going to kill you to go either.
Overall, I give this a thumbs-up. |

I'm pretty sure Disney was making fun of themselves there. :P |

I wanna go see it. From the previews, I wasn't too convinced, but it sounds like it'll be a good time. |
