Biohazard 4
The incdident occurred in Winter of 2005. It started in the Nintendo console Gamecube, and it brought hell to the Resident Evil vetrans.
Okay, that was a spoof of the first 4 lines from the Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles opening sequence. Enter the Surrvival Horror review. (that was a badly done reference to Resident Evil 1)
Flavio, along with several other Resident Evil fans, were deeply dissapointed with Resident Evil 4. Mainly because of how far it strayed from the original games. Gameplay, enemies, hell even the story line had barely anything to do with the original games. Sure, it was fun, but it just wasn't Resident Evil. Where had the ammo conservation go? Where did the stealth go? Hell, where did the freaking puzzles go!?! It was all gone.
And that's why Flavio was deeply disapointed when Flavio heard about Umbrella Chronicles. It was an on-rails shooter. How could they stay true to the original games?
Read the review to find out.
Okay, Flavio doesn't play many on-rail shooters, but this one is simply amazing. You aim the Wiimote, you fire with the B/A button (you can change it), you change the camera perspective via the Nunchuck controller. You reload by shaking the Wiimote. You switch guns using the C/+. And you can get out your knife with the Z button, then swing it with the Wiimote. You can pick up items and files with the A/B button (The one you don't shoot with) The controls are all pretty simple.
Now, the game isn't easy. Some of the bosses will make you want to kill someone, though bosses aside, it isn't too difficult.
You pick up multiple weapons during the levels, (which are at least 5 minutes long. Some are about 10 minutes.) along with ammo for these weapons. Other than the Rapid-Fire weapons, you won't find too much ammo. Though, there is enough to get you through the levels.
After the levels over, you get a ranking. Either an S,A,B,or C. The ranking is based off of enemy shots, critical shots, time, and files found. Depending on your ranking, you'll get a certain amount of stars, which are used to upgrade your weapons.
The game throws several waves of enemies as you go through the stages. There's zombies, Cerberas's (zombie dogs), Chimeras (Fly-human combinations, infected with the T-Virus), Crows, leeches, and Tyrants. There's several on screen at one time, and most of them take MANY shots to kill. Now, how do you get by without dying then? Well, most enemies have weak spots, which do MUCH more damage, or with some enemies, kills them instantly.
Bosses have a LOT more HP than normal enemies, and are much stronger. Though, any one who's played a video game should know that. Oh, and Flavio mentioned how some of them will REALLY tick you off. Some of them are easy as hell, and some are hard as New Jersey (Flavio couldn't say "Hard as hell," because Flavio already said easy as hell. New Jersey's much worse than hell anyways)
When enemies attack you, your health bar decreases (Duh). You can heal by picking up green herbs. Green herbs are NOT that common, just like in the old Resident Evils. You can also pick up First Aid Sprays (Even more uncommon) which act as 1Ups. After you die, they bring you back to life with full health.
Sadly, the games pretty short. Only about 20 hours at most to beat all the missions. Though, if you want to collect all the files, upgrade all the weapons, and get S's on all the missions, then it will take a hell of a lot longer.
Oh, and finally, the story. Each scenario has around 5 levels. The scenarios sum up the story line of the pervious Resident Evil games, along with some new content. There's also a new scenario about the fall of Umbrella.
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles isn't perfect, though it's still an enjoyable experience. An 8/10. Though, Flavio suggests renting it rather than buying it.
Well, that's over. Next game up for review: Trauma Center: New Blood!

20 hours is actually really long for a on-rails shooter. (Ghost Squad is maybe 1 hour long). Did you find the levels were varied enough to keep you interested through the whole game? The videos I have watched just seemed to be shooting the same zombies over and over again, in the same environments.
Nice review, I like your style... I look forward to reading more |

The levels were different from each other, though mainly based on bosses and enviroment. There's several different types of BOWs other than zombies, depending on which level you're playing.
The first scenerio is kind of boring though, and the Raccon's Destruction Scenerio is kind of bland. Other than that, it's good.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment. |

I prefer Ghost Squad to this only because it is a traditional arcade shooter. I realize that Umbrella Chronicles is much more suited to a console, but it just doesn't have the authenticity that makes me want to play a light gun game. If I want to play RE, I prefer a controller to a gun. |

20 hours? That's deep. I should get this, mainly because it would be the ONLY Resident Evil game that I'd play. Of course, It's probably because it's more of an Arcade-style Shooter rather than a Survival Horror game. And with the All-Platinum achievement from Link's Crossbow Training, it might work out for me. |
