Part 1: Back when games weren't very advanced, they had little colours to choose from. Red seemed to fit the character.
Part 2: Toad is supposed to be a helpless citizen who is supporting Mario's quest to free the Mushroom Kingdom from opression by Bowser.
Part 3: The KING part doesn't resemble anything. Think of all the games you can with a king in it! Lots, huh?
Part 4: It could be a peace symbol. But, it resembles a skull more. Which means it has been freed from evil. As for the star, stars play a large role in Mario games. Like invincibility. Stars are also a stereotype of goodness and justice.
Part 5: An italian stereotype is large mustaches. Besides, the guy in the picture doesn't have a hat. |
