All of Nintendo HQ is yelling out a collective "Doh!" as the demand for Wii continues to rise. They just can't keep up with the demand says Reggie, even though they are cranking out 1.8 million units a month
Reggie wrote: | In absolute terms, it is highly, highly unfortunate that consumers cannot find a Wii to purchase. And anyone who suggests that a shortage is good for business really doesn’t understand business. We want the consumer to walk into any retail establishment and find the product. And that’s what we’re working tirelessly to make happen. |
Now Nintendo is withdrawing advertising because, if you can't find a Wii, seeing those commercials is like a kick in the groin (ok maybe not, but it is a waste of money right now).
Quote: | According to a spokesman, demand for the system "has been unprecedented and higher than Nintendo could ever have anticipated." Nintendo, which has already raised its Wii production targets several times, is now looking at moving advertising into early 2008 in order to "act responsibly." |
Are any of you looking for a Wii? I have two people who asked me to find one for them, so the hunt begins. It may actually be worse now than it was last year!
EDIT: I just got one this morning (Dec 16th)... my Target had 75! Maybe the last chance to get one before Christmas. GameStop is selling vouchers though, which guarantee you a Wii sometime in January.

Kicks in the groin are fun.
But seriously, it took me a whole year to get my Wii after I ordered it. |

I knew that Nintendo couldn't meet up with demand, but they still cant keep up even with 1.8 million a month This just shows the sheer demand for them |

My job coach, who's a really nice guy, found a Wii online (it's for him and his family), for $150, NEW, and it's sold at Lynn, MA. During our little weekly job hunt, I was able to suggest him a few things for the Wii:
Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow Training Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Super Paper Mario Super Mario Galaxy Super Smash Bros. Melee Wii Play, with Bonus Wii Remote And an extra Nunchuk for the second Wii Remote.
One of the good things is that my Video game comprehension skills can be pretty useful in stores that deal with gaming. I'm trying to find a job at GameStop! Maybe I might succeed, once Springtime comes. |

I got a Wii, in the 8th of December, at mid-night. 20 Wiis, I got the last one. But I don't think they sell well here in Portugal. |

I received my Wii on November 19th, the release date in America. I was lucky that my dad stood in line for me, and he was the 42nd person to get it out of 45.
I really could see people getting angry at the Nintendo Wii commercials. Especially my friends, who have been frantically searching for Wii's. I'm not sure if it is where I shop, but sometimes on Sunday mornings, when I go to Walmart, they have all these Wiis, atleast 50 of them. They are stacked up on each other, but that probably means that Walmart restocked them before.
I do believe that if Nintendo doesn't create enough Wiis to keep up with the demands, that there would be the possibility of loosing lots and lots of gamers and buyers. Especially with the holidays, right now, the Nintendo Wii will be in a higher demand than it already was. Nintendo has a challenge, as we all know. They'll need to make more and more, but as we know it, they can't keep up with it. |

WHOA. I thought they were all over the place still! IT'S BEEN MORE THAN A FREAKING YEAR! I think something similar to what happened with Smash Bros. Melee is going on. |

I praise my father for being a breadman. With the power of Target's backroom and a family that'll steak out each store until they find me what I want, I'm basically assured anything I want.
Hm...it's suprising. A few years ago, most people might be suprised that there are 1.8 Million dedicated gamers on North America, much less specifically for Nintendo. It's amazing how easy a twist of fate and a perfect invention can cause years of prejudice and disagreement to crumble. |

Gotta consider Fox and myself lucky. We got ours when the son of dad' freind alerted us about a recent shipment. We drove to Target and got it while they were being unloaded of the truck. Only 1 of 5! |
