Relations. We never see much beyond brothers or father and son, maybe grandfather and grandson. But what about extended families?
An example of this is with the helpful Goombas from the Paper Mario series.
Goombario and Goombella
Goombario has Goombaria (little sister), Goompa (grandpa), Gooma (grandma), Goomama (mom) and Goompapa (dad).
Goombella is all alone, but helps out Professor Frankly at the end.
Perhaps Goombella is Goombario's big sister? Maybe they're cousins? That would help explain why she's all alone: after studying at Goom University, she moved to Rougeport to learn more about the 'mythical' Crystal Stars. Also, both of them break the Fourth Wall and help Mario by with their Tattle ability.
Rosetta
In the game, it is implied that she is from the Mushroom Planet, since she it is not only revealed that she visits her home planet every 100 years, but also she looks strickingly similar to Peach.
Thus: Rosetta is one of Peach's ancestors. Probably the sister if there was another child. If not, then her father remained.

Rosalina/Rosetta looks like peach because they were originally planned to be related. |

Noez, because Rosalina never... o_o; uhh... y'know... on the Mushroom Planet. She went with the Lumas when she was young. So no way she was Peach's ancestor.

The comet comes once every hundred years.
Rosetta had to be in space for at three hundred, because the Mushroomers' festival indicated that the comet had come several times before. |
