I think that it would've been really cool to bring back Mario riding Yoshi, like in SMW or Sunshine. I guess they didn't add it since it was in Sunshine, but space could add a whole new twist to it. A cape isn't really necessary, but Yoshi doesn't get enough appearances in good 3-D Mario games anyway. All he got was the wooden face thingy in Space Junk Galaxy(I think it was that one)

If you were to use a cape, though, it'd replace the red star. But I think it might be too hard to run far, and then jump.

At least there could've been a Yoshi NPC, though.

That maybe because Yoshis control, complete with the 3D of those games and the not-auto-repositioning camera control like a cow in a supermarket trolley. [/blatant ripoff of lack of a better awesome phrase]

Here's an idea. Maybe Yoshi could eat a pineapple and get the ability to moon jump (like setting the Moon Jump code on an Action Replay). And if you fall into a black hole while riding Yoshi, he could eat it, sending you back to the beginning of the level unharmed but unable to use Yoshi for the rest of the level.
