I agree. I liked it, but it just didn't feel like Mario. Hell I haven't even tried to play it again. My 360 is currently proving to be much more entertaining. |

Wow, you're saying it didn't feel Mario? They took everything that made 64 great and made it better. |

I honestly disagree with this review.
It did have revolutionary elements, like the clever gravity ideas and walking on round objects. I think they did a great job on the storybook stuff, but if you don't like it, that's your opinion. The camera hardly bothered me, even though I already have 120 Power Stars. |

I just read through the review again and noticed several problems with your judgement:
1. You DO have multiple jumps, you idiot. In fact, they brought back all the jumps from Mario 64. Long jumping was my favorite and I'm glad it's back; Sunshine didn't have any of those jumps whatsoever. I bet you're so bad of a Mario fan you didn't even try them out.
2. Barely any NPCs? With nothing to say? Please. I've talked to pretty much every NPC and there is definitely not a shortage. Unlike in Sunshine, the characters aren't soulless beings who do nothing but give you blue coins, they have personalities. Take the Toad Brigade, for example. There's a smart one with glasses and a green one who's lazy and always sleeps. There's also several species of NPCs, including Toads, Penguins, Gearmos, and Honeybees; not to mention ones that are very likeable, such as the Boo with goggles. I've even chuckled a few times with what they say.
3. If the story wasn't Peach being kidnapped, would it really be a Mario game? I don't think so, it'd just feel strange. They told the classic Bowser-steals-Peach scenario again, and perfected it this time with an awesome opening and ending.
4. You haven't even played the entire game yet. Your review is as bad as a four year-old saying he hates broccoli because it looks nasty... I don't even know why you're here, go join a Halo forum. |

Ehee hee hee! Your review, in my opinion speaks absolutely little truth about Super Mario Galaxy. First of all, your comment regarding the jumps is false. You do, in fact, have a variety of jumps at your disposal, make sure that you know what you're talking about before your write a falsified review. You mentioned the predictable storyline, as being a negative. How do you explain that? The predictability of the storyline is a key factor of any good mario game, and doesn't deteriorate the game quality. The fact that the whole story is the same doesn't mean that the portrayal was predictable, as you know even in SM64 and SMS it was basically the same story, with a different cover and that's all it is, but that's why it's so awesome. The concept of gravity, launch stars, pull stars and flying through space, is a unique and incomparable step for Mario Gameplay, and how you can say that it is not innovative baffles me.
You never even touched upon the fact that the graphics in this game far surpass any other game on the Wii by lightyears. The stunning eye-candy in this game and the gameplay that moves smoothly with the game makes it so famous. This is one of the only Mario Games that have NPC's with genuine character and emotion even to the point that they express it facially and with body-language, something that many games have failed at. You thought Sunshine was superior? Sure, I'd love to chuck Galaxy and return to annoying fat people with no clothes on, with the same voices and robotic dialogue, infuriating camera and impossible, repetetive sidequests that make you want to launch your controller. Now, I have read that you haven't even reached the half-way point in the game. How can you critisize a game that you have not even fully experienced? You can't fully appreciate it until you actually play the entire game and get a relative idea of what you're talking about. Oh god, they removed the diving! Who cares? Seriously, WHO CARES ABOUT DIVING? They completely blast all obsolete moves and bring in awesome new moves. Look at the underwater sections! They completely repainted the tired and boring concept of underwater levels and made it awesome. SMS, although it involved a lot of water, was very lacking in underwater levels.
Super Mario Galaxy even brings back the awesomeness of the old powerups and even more new powerups such as the Boo Mushroom. What did Sunshine have in comparison? A water pump, that sprayed, wait for it, water, ain't that awesome? No, it's not. Not to mention the Invincibility powerup that is a MUST in all true Mario Games. Was it in Sunshine? Nope. Doesn't that tell you something? I'm not even goign to get started on the return of the old enemies rather than those freaky, goop creatures that all looked the same. Simple. Play Galaxy and then write a review. Thanks. |

Flavio, I understand everyone is untitled to their opinion, but this is ridiculous! Your review has many untrue statements and you failed to mention some of the game's best qualities, focusing only on the bad and exaggerating them greatly. ...and come on, how could someone prefer Sunshine over Galaxy?! |

Oh, Flavio. I restrained myself from reading this sh-t to not hate you, but I read it. Now you've lost some of my respect.
All you did was point out the negatives, throw in some lies, and then pretty much say that it sucks. I respected the fact that you disliked Galaxy, but now I don't. Sorry.

Sorry, but what you've just written is total, exaggerated bullshit. Normally I would respect your opinion, but all you've done is tossed in everything wrong you can think of about Galaxy, a few lies and then bloated them to seem ten times worse. |

This review would be so much better if it were funny, like Zero Punctuation. There, I would be able to relate to you. However, I have to say that the rest of the forum would slap you upside the head because you're serious.
I respect your opinion of the game, but as other members have addressed, you missed a few key issues and also mistook a few facts (multiple jumps...I believe a penguin once said "press Z to dive", etc.).
In addition, you complain about the camera being not to your liking. Well, I understand you are one of those people (like myself) who enjoyed Super Mairo Sunshine's 100% manual camera, but a lot of fans didn't. Most of those fans are right here on this forum. As a reviewer, it is your job to see both the standpoint of yourself and the target audience.
In summation, I respect your opinion, and you've delivered it well. However, a few false facts and fan-desputable facts keep this from being a completely complex and well thought-out review. I understand we all have our issues with popular games, (I hate LOZ: OOT everyone! You may now throw your rotton tomatoes at me!) and we wish to express some of that hatred in a review, but we have to keep our heads on straight. So, let's just spin around and correct the review, shall we? |

I semi-agree, it got kind of dull by the end, yes. But Mario still had his ass-attack buttocks of doom. And you could dive. Seriosuly, has nobiody of oyu done a Butt bomb ? Or a homing Ass Crash ? |
