I'm posting all of my written works concerning the character Dimentio in one thread, see?[/popple]

I may be using the written content here as reference for certain events in the Role-Play Off-Topic forum.

Anyway... I'll put them up in order of when they were first wirtten.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--- Dementia: A Psychoanalysis ---
This is Dimentio's perception of progress, power, and those that surround him. Those in which he sees potential, he molds and places onto a giant chess board. These select individuals reside upon this board not to use their uncommon skill or power for making supposed contributions to a hopeless and imperfect world, but to help Dimentio realize his one, unceasing goal: Domination over all worlds, so that he may use his power, and that of those which come to serve him, to clear the muddy waters, and from that vile bog, shape and raise up a new, perfect reality - centered upon none other than he, Dimentio.
Dimentio is a master planner. All that befalls him, even a seeming defeat, is often already planned or preconsidered by the inconveniently sharp jester. His plans flow together without end, supporting one another and remaining in a state of constant preparation for continuation, in the possibility of one piece of the overall puzzle being removed. What's more, Dimentio can easily create brand new pieces to reestablish a certain connection between many of his plans.
Because he is so unusually - and exceedingly - intelligent, Dimentio believes that he alone knows what's best for the worlds, and sees it as his rightful duty to instill that knowledge in others. All humans have potential for far more brilliance than they normally exhibit; Dimentio recognizes that potential within himself, and uses it fully - much to his unique advantage.
Dimentio does not play his grand game of chess with pieces of mere junk. He never places meaningless items upon his board at the start of a new game, nor will he tolerate their presence. Once a playing piece has lost its shape as a manipulatable and useful object, it no longer belongs with its fellows. For the sake of progress, Dimentio will gladly cast that which is useless into complete and utter oblivion. He prunes the canker that threatens his ingenious schemes, and then promptly heals the wound by shaping yet another exceptional individual into one of his many chess pieces, for some last longer on the board than others.
Sometimes he will eliminate a stagnant piece by moving another into its path; on other occasions, he takes out the threat with a touch of his own magic. Each time a threat is destroyed, Dimentio becomes filled with utmost joy - for he has wiped out yet another hindrance, and taken his grand plans one step closer towards coming into fruition. With the subsequent acquisition of a new puppet, Dimentio's plans, as a result, take on a new and different tone, if only in the greatest subtlety. This supports the fact that the sadistic jester's plans are indeed ever-changing, like a many-headed monster that, when beheaded, sprouts ten more heads in its place. Such is the nature of his plans... his chess board. It is a distinct symbol that represents, in a simpler way (if possible), the complex psyche of Dimentio... pleaser of crowds, master of dimensions!
--- The Ultimate Show ---
"He is useless... a freak!"
"Please don't say that, dearest... we should love him for what he is! Just because he's different from the other children..."
"Rosetta, he has no face. He's not only different, but dangerous. What use is such a thing?"
"You speak as though he isn't a person, like you or me. Have you no heart, Desmen?"
"You speak of love...? 'Dearest', yes... don't fool yourself. You married me for my power, for my rule as king."
"I love you for who you are, my dearest, king or no king..."
"Then you are more hopeless than I thought... though not as hopeless as this demented child that sits before me. We must destroy it. How can such a meaningless sack of tissue come to rule our people?"
"He... he is your son... not a piece of meat! How can you say such things?"
The small, faceless child sat in a corner, shaking. It beheld no expression, yet seemed almost to emote itself through its body movements as the king and queen spoke. It was almost as if it could see and hear everything that was happening... but no, that was impossible.
"Impossible, I tell you. It cannot feel... it cannot do anything, Rosetta. Look at it!"
For the first time, a fierce emotion rose like a flame within the child's mind. For it did indeed possess conscious thought... for though he had no face, no expression on the outside, the boy did, at least, have a heart... and a very strong and unique one, at that. It felt everything around it, actually sensed the events that had unfolded since the young boy's birth. Now it had begun to thump wildly, giving way to a furious anger. Hatred flowed from its veins like a poison, all the way to the boy's nonexistent face... life was being given to it at last.
"Please, my dearest... I implore you..."
"Enough. I can see now that you care more for this nameless child than you do me."
"Nameless? I have long had a name in mind, Desmen. I was going to tell you tonight, but then..."
"Yes, but then I saw this creature for what it truly is: a freak! A clown! A pile of flesh that will never amount to anything, that will never be able to develop magic as strong as mine, or that of my ancestors. The line of great and noble kings has ended."
"No."
"Excuse me?"
The child watched, sudden curiosity now mingled with his fury. With every passing moment, his perspective of the situation grew sharper; he could understand, now. He knew why hatred was bubbling inside him like acid, and he embraced it - for he had perfectly good reason to feel the way that he did. The woman, who he now knew to be his mother, had taken on a quiet and defiant tone of voice at last.
"I said no, your majesty. The noble line of kings has ended with you, not Dimentio."
"So that is what you've named it?"
"It is a fine name, for a fine person."
"I see... so you choose this object over me - over your people."
"I choose what's right! I--"
The mother stopped speaking abruptly, he gaze now falling upon her newborn child. For the space of a second, a gleam of crimson had leapt out at her, focused upon her husband like a searchlight...
"I... did you see? Dimentio... his eyes..."
"Eyes? It has nothing... it is nothing. Or are you so desperate to imagine that it really is normal... that it really is like you or me, or indeed, everyone else in our great tribe!"
"I know what I saw..."
No sooner had she turned her gaze upon Dimentio once more, however, then the momentary red gleam had vanished from sight.
"I... it was definitely there..."
"What is this? My wife has lost her mind, at last? But no... I know now that the birth of this monster has driven you insane. If you or this miserable lump of matter will not be productive to our tribe, then I see no further use... for either of you."
"D-Desmen... what are you..."
"It is the only way... yes. I will destroy you both!"
"NO!"
For the first time, Dimentio spoke. His intelligence had developed faster than any creature yet born within his clan, and where blank space had once occupied the area above his shoulders, a pulsating black heart now rested. Its expression was frightening: A taut leer, as harshly cold and unfeeling as its wearer.
"No... you will not take her! You are pathetic, like..."
Dimentio paused. He wanted to add more contempt to his statement, yet had not seen enough of the world to draw any ideas yet - he had nothing to compare his father to. Surely, the rest of the world was as disgusting as this man... tarnished, imperfect. Taking note to come up with a mental list of comparisons later on, Dimentio continued to advance towards his father.
"Well, it does not matter. It it I that shall kill you, after all. Once you are gone from this world, you need not worry about my own presence any longer."
Desmen's eyes widened with shock.
"You... you can... but no... you are still a danger! You are mad, the both of you! Ah ha ha... and you are also both finished! No more will you threaten my tribe... or my rule over the people! Only true magical power will give you the strength that you need... observe!"
Desmen snapped his fingers, and in an instant, his wife Rosetta became encased in a golden barrier of light.
"She dies!" screamed Desmen, now appearing quite deranged. Before Dimentio could stop him, he snapped them once more, and his wife was consumed in a searing explosion of curling flames; when the smoke cleared, both she and the barrier had gone.
"You..."
For the second time since his true awakening, words failed Dimentio. His anger rendered him incoherent; but no, he needed to master his emotions...
"And now..." Desmen smiled twistedly, his gloved hand forming into a fist. His look of sickening triumph changed quite suddenly to a contortion of pain and agony, as Dimentio's hand drove through his chest and grasped his heart. Pulling it out and throwing it to the ground, Dimentio smiled for the first time in his life.
"How's that... father?"
"Ah ha ha... you fool."
Desmen slumped to the ground, his life leaving him. "You are doomed to madness... don't you see? You can kill me, but the cruel fate that has long befallen my family line shall not elude you... you will be forever cursed. I shall make sure of it!"
Desmen snapped his fingers one last time, and a mask instantly appeared over Dimentio's face, locking itself in place. It held a frozen grin, and refused to yield as Dimentio pulled at it with all of his might.
"No physical force will remove that mask from your face. Only when you attain enough power will you be able to remove it once more... and when that happens, your enemies - for you shall have many - will be able to destroy you at last... be able to do what I failed to do."
"I am greater by far than you have ever been, or indeed, than anyone ever will be," said Dimentio, lowering both hands from his face and actually floating upwards as he spoke. "I'm not like you. You were right... I am different. I am of greater intellience, and of greater power, by nature. I will restore this world to perfection... and I will be its first true and pure king. Nothing will stand in my way. All obstacles shall be cleared... starting with you."
Dimentio was the one who snapped his fingers this time; Desmen gave a final scream of agony, as blood spilled from his open chest at an increased rate. In seconds, the last vestiges of life within him, even that which had been supported by magic, had left. His body collapsed, defeated and broken, to the ground.
Dimentio's expressionless mask looked down pitilessly upon the father of its wearer. Despite its monotone gaze, the voice of its owner was full of joy. As he floated towards the exit of the shadowy chamber, Dimentio looked back upon the lifeless body, and gave it his final departing words:
"Ah ha ha... ciao!"
--- Dimensional Origins ---
Origin: The world where reality began... where all dimensions first sprouted from... but only after it met a cruel and evil fate. For some time, there actually were no Heroes or Villains; everyone held a perfect balance of Light and Dark. Until, that is, a great palace was built to honor those that the people considered 'perfect'. As time went on, new generations of their kind came to resent those that dwelled in the palace, for they had been granted the power to rule the people, and had begun to use this power for their own gain.
Equality had been shattered. Spite grew between the two sides, and an epic war was soon fought (this came to be known as the Epic War. >_>) At the grand battle's climax, the most powerful mages of Origin, seeking to rid the world of what many considered to be the cause of all their troubles - though it was really the fault of the people themselves - used their power in an attempt to banish the forsaken palace. Many mighty mages dwelled within the palace as well, however. As the outsider mages weaved their magic, the palace magicians used a spell of their own, in an attempt to keep the castle in place.
The two spells met at the castle's center... and suddenly, all reality was torn. The Palace of Origin was split apart... and so was the entire world itself. Origin had become a dimensional fermenter, the father of all future worlds - indeed, a gateway between reality. And at the center of this world, now split into Light and Dark, Heroes and Villains (whose descendants came to discover the first new worlds in the Marioverse), the palace remained, standing tall and quite morphed in its appearance. It had become a metronome black-and-white fortress, and now served as the eery capital of Spinside - for that is what the new, split word soon came to be called.
The royal family of Spinside lived on, giving birth to a long line of rulers, each of whom specialized in the most powerful of magic arts. They were, indeed, the direct descendants of the mages that had tried to maintain the castle's existence, but erroneously helped to split existence itself. The original line of mages had been driven to insanity by the trauma of losing their world, and the initial strength of their influence. This madness was passed down throughout the family, to each of its sons.
It eventually came to be that one day, a small boy was born that turned out to be very different from the others. The current king, Lord Desmen, loathed and feared this child, for its intelligence and skill was growing at an alarming rate. Secretly fearing the premature loss of his power to this newborn 'freak', Desmen tried to convince his wife that he was a threat to the people, rather than his own position of power. When Rosetta refused, and Desmen's fury began to emerge, Dimentio, now highly intelligent despite his youth, leapt into action.
Desmen's madness emerged as both fear and hatred overtook him like a poison. In one terrible moment, he murdered his wife Rosetta before Dimentio's unshielded eyes. Dimentio returned the favor by ripping out his father's heart, and laughing at him as he died, mocking his power - the very thing he held most dear, next to his own life.
Swearing a strong personal oath to be nothing like his father, Dimentio, now cursed with a permanently placed mask that had been his father's dying 'gift', sought to emote a far more joyful personality. Though he had sincerely hoped not to mirror his father, however, Dimentio failed to uphold his own promise. His inherited madness soon took him, bestowing him with sadistic tendencies. His joy soon came from witnessing the suffering of others, and as he came to better understand the emotions and motives of others, he became a master manipulator.
Lord Desmen's last cruel trick had proved effective: The only way to remove the Split Mask, which prevented Dimentio from ever being able to rightfully rule his people, was to obtain a massive amount of Dark power. This led Dimentio to eventually tread a long and twisted path, all in the pursuit of Darkest power. Dimentio soon came up with a new goal, one that he felt he could truly achieve: The total domination and rule of all worlds, united beneath him. The worlds would become one once more, and Dimentio would take his rightful place as leader of the reborn dominion. For once he had enough power, he knew that the Split Mask would be removed... and by then, he would be ready to establish his new regime.
In a recent adventure, Dimentio managed to worm his way into Count Bleck's assembly of 'loyal' minions. Count Bleck, who had summoned the Palace of Origin from Spinside to serve as his own castle (and base of operations), wielded a Dark power: The Chaos Heart. Seeking to reclaim both the palace and power to rule that he saw as rightfully his own, Dimentio began pulling all the strings, setting the stage for one of his greatest schemes yet...
The rest, as they say, is history.
--- The Thousand-Year Shadow ---
An awfully long time ago... in a strange and far-off land, a big, bustling town thrived. It was a town where all people lived very happy lives. And it was said that the town was very prosperous.
But one day... tragedy befell this blessed place. A great cataclysm struck the town and its people. Darkness filled the skies, and the earth roared and shook. It was as if the very world had come to a violent end. And in but a single night... the town sank into the depths of the earth.
Many moons rose and set... stories of the town passed into the pages of fairy tales... and when the town's site no longer held relics of its past, people gathered at that spot and built a new town.
But word soon spread among the people who moved in... that an ancient city lay deep underground... and that a magnificent treasure rested there.
Indeed... this is the tale of the fabled treasure of Rogueport.
Yes, this is where it begins, in the sea town of Rogueport. The tale of the quest for the legendary treasure... and the Thousand-Year Door... starts here.
Princess Peach strode into the bustling town square of Rogueport, feeling, admittedly, very much relieved.
"Finally! I have a minute without Toadsworth watching over me! He's so paranoid! I come all the way here on holiday... only to be stuck with Toadsworth! It's so stifling! Once in a while I'd like the chance to look around on my own and see what I want."
The princess turned this way and that, suddenly allowing the derelict settings to register with her completely.
"But... now that I'm doing it, all I see is that this town has a very... umm... distinct flavor..."
From beneath his long cloak, Dimentio watched the princess carefully. Perhaps she would be able to unlock the map... the only treasure that had been left to him by his mother, Rosetta, after her death. Indeed, the circumstances of acquiring this box had been most unusual. A secret chamber inside Spinside Palace had been the mysterious box's hiding place, and it had annoyed him greatly when all of his efforts to open the box proved completely useless upon claiming it. Even his strongest magic could not break open its seal... but this girl... perhaps she held the power to do so. If he could exploit her weakness... use it to his own advantage...
"Oh, Missy... Missy..." Dimentio called softly, maintaining the focus of his gaze upon his newest victim.
Peach turned to face the cloaked jester, looking quite startled.
"Do you mean... me?!?"
Dimentio gave a slight nod. "Yes, you, Missy! Won't you buy something? I have a wide assortment of knickknacks and doodads!"
He was not, of course, interested in making any coins. He already knew which item would attract his unwitting 'customer' the most, for he had cast a most alluring charm upon its shining surface...
Peach took a good look at the collection of odd items. "Oh! Well... umm..." Suddenly, she gave a slight start of surprise as her eyes fell upon a most dazzling object. She moved closer, to get a better look at the strange thing. "Well, that's a pretty box! What's inside it?"
Dimentio smiled inwardly, reflecting the amused grin he wore upon his mask, though the Princess could see neither, concealed as he was beneath his cloak and hood. The Shadow Sirens had been most helpful in assisting him to obtain the box. It was fortunate that the last few remaining Origini and the Shadow Tribe were on relatively good terms.
"It is said that this box holds a map that shows where a legendary treasure sleeps..." Dimentio spoke in his mistiest voice, watching the princess closely. Was 'love' truly the key to creating the perfect world?
Dimentio shook his head, pressing on. "But the box has a magic lock on it that will only open for a pure and noble heart. As you can see... It won't so much as budge if one such as myself touches it..." Dimentio tried one last time to prise open the box himself, in vain.
Peach's gaze was fixed upon the box. She appeared spellbound, and when she responded to Dimentio's fruitless efforts, her voice sounded almost distant. "Oooh..." she muttered, her eyelids flickering slightly.
"I know," claimed Dimentio, in a tone of mock inspiration. "If the box will open for you, Missy, then you may have whatever is inside. I am sure that whatever is in there would be of no use to someone like me," he added, smirking beneath the shadowy folds of his hood. "So, Missy... Take this box in your hands and see what happens..."
Peach gave a small nod, with only the briefest hesitancy. "Um... All right... What's the harm? I'll try to open it," she claimed softly, taking the box from Dimentio's gloved hands and holding it gently in her own.
She gave a startled shriek as quite suddenly, the box's hinge creaked upwards, opening the container and spilling forth a flood of blinding light. As it consumed her fair form, Dimentio thought nothing of how her pure heart had helped to do what he himself had been unable to... instead, he saw her to be nothing but a tool with a few extra features, all to be exploited for his own purposes, of course.
She was the perfect sacrifice, for her weak heart, tainted as it was by love, would be easily manipulated by the Shadow Queen's power. Desire and care for others would instead give way to a lust for power... and when that happened at last, he, Dimentio, would have access to the Shadow Queen's coffin, which held the Darkest Essence - a mysterious power that would surely result in the removal of his mask - one that had been instilled by the four Legendary Heroes of old, when they had used the Crystal Stars to banish the cruel queen.
And once he made that power his - indeed, a mix of the Shadow Queen's own essence and that of the Crystal Stars - Dimentio would take his rightful place as ruler. The Shadow Queen reborn would be strong, yet heavily reliant upon a living host - one that held a heart weakened by love, no less. It would be easy for him to overpower her... for only someone with enough true brilliance and skill could do so.
Someone... with magic!
And then he appears in digibutter planning to take it over.
Yay.
Well, best Fanfic ever. If it's considered a fanfic. When you started on that last part I was like. "You mean rogueport?" Then it was rogueport. Yay.
Rosetta = Dimentio's mom.
Or do you mean the whole RP thing? No, I suspect this is his backstory, not anything involving the RPs.
Example: The recent thing I started with Dimentio in RPOT... He wants to ultimately find a way to recover the Palace of Origini/Spinside Palace once more, as it is rightfully his dwelling - which Count Bleck currently uses.
