Soul Gems.

Yes, Soul Gems.

Here are the items for it:

-Soultrap Scroll

Cost: 10

Description: This scroll allows the user to cast "Soul Trap" on someone.

Effect: -2 MP for the user, and the target who has been Soul Trapped gets a light lavender border around their avatar, which lasts for 5 minutes. The border signifies that the target's death will fill the killer's Soul Gem.

Soul Gems are where things will get a bit complicated, and M'aiq shall explain how it will work.

A Soul Gem, when bought, is empty, and useless. When a soultrapped target is killed, it's soul is automatically transferred into an empty Soul Gem. The charged soul gems, which have more value, can be sold for a slight profit, or used to refill/damage stats. The way the values will be determined is with User Level, which could be determined by score(as it is in SPM) and the formula for soul gem use is this:

Refill/Damage HP:

x = y(z)+1

x = Health total
y = Level of captured user
z = Soul Gem quality scale(explained below)
1 = base of 1 HP

Refill/Damage MP:

x = (y/10)z+1

x = Magic total
y = Level of captured user(divided by 10)
z = Soul Gem quality scale
1 = Base of 1 MP

Money Value:

x = (y(z)/10)+a

x = Value total
y = Level of captured user(combined with z and divided by 10)
z = Soul Gem quality scale(see 'y')
a = Soul Gem base value

Example: A level 20 user is captured in a Petty Soul Gem, which has a scale value of 0.5:

x = (20(0.5)/10)+10
x = (10/10)+10
x = 11

Obviously, Petty Soul Gems SUCK. It only gained 1 coin of value.

(Of course, the values of the above formulas are to be scaled down to the nearest whole number, and the formulas may be tweaked as needed)

Along with the usual things for an item, the following shall be listed:

Soul Gem Quality Value: The scale to which soul gems are powered. The higher, the better.

Soul Gem Base Value is the same as any items value, so ignore that.

Now for the gems:

-Petty Soul Gem

Cost: 10

Description: An extremely cheap, and extremely weak Soul Gem.

Effect: Coupled with Soul Trap, this can steal the soul of a fallen opponent.

Soul Gem Scale Value: 0.5


-Lesser Soul Gem

Cost: 20

Description: A somewhat weak Soul Gem.

Effect: Coupled with Soul Trap, this can steal the soul of a fallen opponent.

Soul Gem Scale Value: 1.0


-Common Soul Gem

Cost: 35

Description: A normal Soul Gem.

Effect: Coupled with Soul Trap, this can steal the soul of a fallen opponent.

Soul Gem Scale Value: 1.5


-Greater Soul Gem

Cost: 50

Description: A valuable Soul Gem.

Effect: Coupled with Soul Trap, this can steal the soul of a fallen opponent.

Soul Gem Scale Value: 2.0


-Grand Soul Gem

Cost: 65

Description: A very rare, incredible Soul Gem.

Effect: Coupled with Soul Trap, this can steal the soul of a fallen opponent.

Soul Gem Scale Value: 2.5




Oh, and before M'aiq forgets: The entire concept of Soul Gems has been a feature in The Elder Scrolls series, but it appears as though it would make a good addition here.


Also, how they will work:

When a user lands a finishing hit on another user, it will check the newly-dead user for the Soultrap status, if he is currently Soultrapped, then it will scan the killer's inventory for any soul gems. Souls automatically occupy the most valuable soul gem when taken.
