That's a possibility!

I checked too. Mario wiki suggests the same possible reference.
And I've never even played SMRPG. I will buy it if it comes out on teh VC, however, if only because I have way too many Points. |

Incorrect assumption.
It said 'shards'. This means pieces. The Crystal Stars are whole.
Thus: Star Road. |

I think in the beginning, when it zooms up on Mario and Luigi, look at the portrait. Looks like some of the old partners. I can see Vivian in the corner. :D |

The first portrait's from Paper Mario and the second is from TTYD. They mentioned that in an old issue of Nintendo Power. |

yep. the only one that does not appear to be a reference to anything is grand master kickface. and that name is awesome without a reference. |
