I received this game for Christmas from my brother, and I have been playing for a while. This is Renegade Kid's first game, partnered with Gamecock. Let's see how it went up against my method of scoring.

FIRST IMPRESSION:
A quick cutscene is shown through first-person views as you are admitted into the hospital. You then wake up in a bed, and the game begins. Not too much story is exposed here. For the first few minutes of the game, I was in awe of how detailed the evironment is for a DS game. The blood-stained walls to the messed up appliances... So beautifully done. XD Some of the enemies were unexpected, as a few would look dead on the ground and spring to life, or they launched out of closed doorways at me. I can already tell this game is the scariest one out for the DS.

GRAPHICS:
Amazing. Simply amazing. Visually, this game easily has some of the best graphics on the system. The environments are beautifully detailed down to the last blood splatter, and the enemy models aren't jagged at all for the system's capabilities. The good thing about this is that it doesn't slow down the frame rate at all. The only problem I see is the pixelation when up close to objects or walls. While all DS games have rather large pixelation, this game has some of the largest pixels I've ever seen. Try to read a sign on a door from up close. You can't, because it looks like a gray smear. 8/10

GAMEPLAY:
The actual gameplay is decent. It has good controls, and the sensitivity is just right. Aiming is great and not too hard. You can double tap the D-pad to run forwards or quickly strafe. The boss battles are pretty good, and require some strategy to actually take them down. Although, sometimes when certain enemies are attacking you (slug-like things), it is extremely hard to locate where they actually are, and by the time you back out of the way, there are about 4 more attacking you. Also, the environments seem to get very repetitive, even for a hospital. The game is also very short, and can be beaten in only a few hours, given that the player is experienced enough. There is also little to no replay value if you found all the weapons/items in your first time through.

And as for the saving feature... It sucks. It says "saving" after you go through a door, but if you die, you MUST restart the chapter. I found that if I need to save, I save and quit, and then reload my game, because it will save my game in the room that I last entered. The saving feature really hindered the game from becoming an even more amazing game. 6/10

SOUND:
The sound is overall good. Enemies become quieter the farther away they are from you, so that's a plus if you need to know where the enemy is distance-wise. The constant sound of your heartbeat is neat, but is really only heard when you are in an area without music, and in a quiet room in real life. Headphones bring out the heartbeat a lot, though. The sound effects are good, and they're not overdone, so there's always a creepy ambience about the game. 8/10

ATMOSHPHERE:
This game is creepy, hands down. It's not scare-your-pants-off creepy, but for a DS game, it's pretty damn scary. The darkness that is always around you makes you guess where the next enemy might pop out. The flashlight helps, since it allows you to illuminate the area it's shining at. Even then, enemies might pop out of nowhere and you'll be scrambling for health, which is limited. Hearing the growling of an enemy is not very nice, especially when you're in a room that you can't see very well. However, since a lot of the time you will have to backtrack, the enemies will often respawn, and eliminate what scare factor they may have provided the first time you encountered them. 8/10

OVERALL:
It's a good game if you like survival horrors or first person shooters. I'd recommend it if you want a good horror game. Some of the pros are amazing graphics and the creepiness of the game. Some cons are that it's short, and it can get repetitive too fast. If you aren't into this stuff, too bad, this game probably isn't for you.

OVERALL SCORE: 7.5/10 (Borrow before you buy)

Gamecock = BEST COMPANY NAME EVER.
It sounds awesome, but there's just so much I want to buy that I probably won't get it for a long time.

Yeah, I'd say that there are better things out there, but this is the best in its category for the DS (there are only 3 survival horrors for the DS I believe).

And yes, Gamecock = win.

UPDATE: Revamped the review, added a decent amount of things, because when I first typed it, I was in school and didn't complete it.
