I like pets better due to more options and possibilities.

I don't see why some of the pets couldn't BE pokemon, however.

I like this idea, and would like to see it happen, some day. You should be able to create custom pets, like alts, but only with a price. Also, there should be "elixirs" or "rare candies" that can be purchased to increase the pet's stats.
