http://www.destructoid.com/breaking-news-parents-to-blame-for-screwed-up-kids-not-games-63459.phtml
I will forever cherish this moment. A newspaper has in its "Our School" section told a "Concerned Parent" (which, as I got to know at least the american" tzpe of concerned parent, has become an idiotproof label for douchebags) that they are to blame, not videogames, when they can't get their 11 year old son to go to school, etc.

It was about freaking time someone told 'em, eh ? I just hope that spreads.

Post your cried and happy dances below.

Nelson: HA-HA! Parents are the blame, and not the games!

I think THAT would explain how I'm feeling!

Actually, I was suggesting that they oughta just abolish video games from their personal lives, not from the World in general. That they would just start living like Amish, just to save themselves from themselves. But just in case...

To the escape pod! *jumps in* I regret nothing!

It's just that the children have no respect of their oparents and the parents can't enforce their rules.

Susan Sto Helit, in the Terry Pratchett Novel, does have a point: "People ought to have to pass a proper exam before becoming parents, not just the physical part."

This reminds me of an episode of Dinosaurs I have on DVD (part of a two-set collection), in which Earl Sinclair, "The Mighty Megalosaurus," gets his parenting licence revoked, and had to read from the parenting manual.

Surprised TRUTH IN TELEVISION !

We need a kid's "Owners Manual".

And a special hotline for troubleshooping with teenagers.

Drriiiiing...
"Teenager Troubleshooting Hotline, my name is Wendy, how may I help you ?"

"Well, you see, my son ,he's bad in school, and I reckon it's all because of those blasted videogames, disgusting reincarnations of SAtan that they are, and he's locked himself in his room and doesn'tr so his homework or studies. What can I do ?"

"Well, for starters, have a nice warm cup of STFU and go to your nearest Social Service Station and poick up the booklet saying "I'm a n00b at parenting.". It'll teach you what went wrong, that using a scapegoat doesn't copver it up forever, and how to get some respect out of your kids without shooting someone or spanking them."

"Excuse me, who in the world do you think you a-"

"Have a nice day !" *hangs up*

*Toot toot tooot*

"... Hello ?"
