I was reading flatland when I thought about further dimensions. We live in the fourth dimension; length, width, height, andd what people call time, but I think is really the ability for multiple objects to occupy the same space, not necessarily at the same time. I digress.
For each progression, each creature simply repeated the inside of itself onto itself to make the next highest dimension. A line replicated to a square. A square replicated to a cube. I know a cube would replicate to a hypercube, but as in the book, what would it visually look like to move out of our space and look inwards upon the fourth dimension.
Serious discussion please. |

This is so difficult my brain is bursting. Argh. How WOULD it look? I don`t think our minds are capable of comprehension of that... |

My thoughts on this were spurned by the book Flatland by Edwin Abott. We always see in the dimension below us. Imagining the tenth dimension is also what I am getting at. I think that a person in the fifth dimension woudl see everything either in three dimension or everything that has ever been in any said position. |

WE LIVE IN THE THIRD DIMENSION.
X, Y, and Z, if you want to go into graphing variables. Length, Width, and Depth for real world terms.
Time is not a dimension. it is only what we use to measure the rotation and the revolution of the Earth. The only "Time Travel" that is possible is moving the Earth against its orbit. However, this will not reverse events. |

We actually live int the fourth dimension, not the third. |

I'm still sticking to the most probable highest dimension being 3rd.
How are you people thinking of folding higher dimensions when you can't even fold the second dimension. In fact, I don't believe objects can soley exist in the 2D world. For everything in one 2D universe exists in at least one other. |

Yes we live in the third dimension in a spatial sense. If we didn't have the ability to move into space that other molecules have occupied, we would all be motionless, and in the third dimension. We do have that ability to move, which is commonly called time, but really isn't. That ability to move is a fourth dimension.
Also, even if all this was junk, just take it as a hypothetical question. |

Movement is not a dimension. We don't occupy space that other molecules do, we push them out of our way. |

I will admit that I can't prove anything to you. I would still like to take this as a hypothetical conjecture though. Just assuming it is, or at least giving me your own assumption for higher dimensions, what would it look like? |

It is impossible to imagine what higher dimensions would look like, assuming that such a dimension exists. |

I`m with Josh. The next dimention is so amazing we can not comprehend. Perhaps They control our lives, like we do 2-D. |

Do we really control 2D? Do we really control anything? |

According to Steven Hawking, there have to be at least 12 Dimensions for our universe to work. Whilst I deeply respect that guy because he's a quadrillion times more intelligent then me, I have no clue about this, so I will not express my personal opinion here. |

Even vastly intelligent people can be wrong. |
