Sorry if that was a bit dark for me (normally I'm pink-sprinkled cupcake nice, but I'm feeling a bit under the weather today), but I can't see any good about this idea.
First of all, Francis has tried to create a casual role-play forum, as well as a casual in-character discussion forum, since RPOT was made. Re-read the Welcome topic's first post of RPOT: meant for in-character discussion. Of course, it's evolved since then to in-character idiocy with goofy or laid-back plots occasionally thrown into the mix.
Miyamojo was the second coming...and you see how well that went.
Alts are meant for creating legacies, each one being a captivating character with his or her or its own backstory, life experiences, personality, and tale to live out. Making this characters nothing more than vehicles to spew spam and random comments out of...well, that just disgusts me. Of course, your specific alt stated in the first post doesn't have these qualities, nor do a few others. I am always annoyed by characters with stupid, OOC, or just generally unwanted messages post in a perfectly-good discussion. I...just can't take a whole forum devoted to it. I'm sorry, I just can't stand it. (And don't say "just don't post there", because it'll get more popular than religion and I'll be forced to go there or be bored and alone in my own scumhole with maybe one or two intelligent people).
A "randomness" topic was already suggested, and Francis said "no" in his podcast. You're suggesting something that would most likely make people gang up in that one topic and essentially kill the forum by it being centered in one area: an area that most new guests wouldn't appreciate unless they spent their lives trolling Gamefaqs.
I have a headache, am feeling awful, and have lost what remained of my breakfast, so I'm sorry if I sound annoyed or angry when I post this. I'm just against it, and if you'd like to go further into discussion about it, I'd be happy to comply.  |

Look. Things are fine the way they are now. We don't need to encourage spam and people outside the RPOT shouldn't give a damn what goes on in there anyway since they have established themselves as a separate group from both RP and OT, and we need to just leave them alone.

And how would a name change of the forum and more clearly stated rules be bad for it?

While creating an alt for the sole purposes of posting under a different name or spamming is bad, there's little denying that RPOT already has plenty of people doing just that. Most of it isn't against the rules, and that which is isn't moderated enough. Simply put, the bad drowns out the good in RPOT. Simply make a new forum with stricter guidelines to keep the "bad" stuff out, and then let people use alts for those purposes in Off-Topic. That way, people can have decent plots and act in character without worrying about the annoying people.

When did I say anything about a randomness topic? Assuming you're reffering to the Dump 2.0, there's still going to be plenty of people posting elsewhere. There was still plenty of activity elsewhere in the days of The original Dump, and there's still plenty of activity outside OT/RPOT. And unlike those other two, you actually have a place to put unfitting topics that don't belong in General Discussion, so there'll be no topics in Dump 2.0 that are at least semi-interesting to non-spammers, and you won't have to go there to read a decent topic like "Reminder to all SLers:" or Crazy Cody's latest MUGEN video or "epic PM2 remix I found". People treat OT like a spam forum anyway, so why not go ahead and make an actual spam forum? Besides, what exactly is so "bad" about spam anyway? Not bandwith, because the pages would be cleaned every 2 days. And not being annoyed by it, because people can actually post normally in OT then without any super-spam posts like "I have a singed eyebrow" in a completely unrelated topic, and can just "not go" to the Dump 2.0. We can ignore RPOT, but then we miss out on all RP plots. We can ignore OT, but it's ridiculously active compared to the rest of the site. And Guests wouldn't be able to view the area at all, just like with OT and RPOT.
And Popple, part of this is for the benefit of the RPers. They can make an RP without 6 posts of "*kills you all with godmods*" or Waluigi coming in and typing "*rapes every guy in the room*". They can actually have a Lord Crump to Dr. Robotnik discussion about world domination without Todd coming in, asking both of them if they're Pokemon, taking pictures, leaving, and then having Sonic run in and steal their wallets. It's to keep the crap away from the RPs. |

Ok. Let me just say it plain and simple.
There was a reason there is no longer a dump.
Classic Digibutter will never work anymore, and it's a good thing because it makes the site a cliche' that only some people will find interesting limiting the growth of the site. We don't need to try and reinvigorate it with a Casual RP forum. RP is fine if you people would just use it.
