Mario series:
-Mario
-Peach

-Bowser

No changes here. Current total: 4.

The Legend of Zelda series:
-Link
-Zelda/Sheik
-Ganondorf

We only need the main trio of Courage, Wisdom, and Power. Current total: 7

Metroid series:
-Samus/Zero Suit Samus
-Ridley OR Dark Samus

I'm not fooling myself into thinking that Metroid will ever get any more than two representatives. Japan doesn't like the games, and Sakurai is Japanese, so, yeah. I chose the two characters most worthy of being in the game. Obviously, I would prefer Ridley, but I like Dark Samus, too. Current total: 9

ALTERNATIVE METROID:
-Samus
-Zero Suit Samus

Making Zero Suit Samus a result of Samus's Final Smash was a huge, huge, huge, huge, HUGE mistake on the Brawl team's part. If you don't want to play as her, you're basically forced to let the opponent use their Final Smash on you. Instead, she should have been separately unlockable by completing Classic Mode on Normal difficulty or higher in under a certain time...just like the original games.

Pokemon series:
-Pikachu
-Jigglypuff
-Pokemon Trainer
-Mewtwo

Lucario is nothing more than the Pokemon of the hour. Mewtwo is much more popular as a whole, as well as being more important to the series. Plus, without him, there aren't any playable legendaries =(. Current total: 13

Star Fox series:
-Fox
-Krystal

Sakurai has proven that he can't think of unique movesets for most Star Fox characters. Krystal, however, has potential for a new moveset, thanks to her staff. Current total: 15

Kirby series:
-Kirby
-Meta Knight
-King Dedede

As far as I'm concerned, Sakurai made the right choices regarding the series. Of course, it's not like Kirby has that many other characters to my knowledge who are playable material...Current total: 18

Fire Emblem series:
-Marth
-Ike
-Black Knight

I'm not exactly Fire Emblem's biggest fan, but it certainly does deserve representation. I don't really know anything at all about the Black Knight, but he was widely requested on Gamefaqs, so I'm assuming he's awesome. Current total: 21

Mother series:
-Ness
-Lucas

As much as I'd love for the Masked Boy to be playable, I'm trying to be as reasonable as possible, so chances are that a Japan-only release like Mother 3 will only have one representative. Current total: 23

Extended Mario series:
-Yoshi
-Donkey Kong
-Diddy Kong
-Wario

No changes. Current total: 27

Other series:
-Captain Falcon
-Captain Olimar
-Snake
-Sonic

Once again, no changes. I'd love another F-Zero representative, but the potential for a unique moveset just isn't there. Current total: 31

Classics:
-Pit
-Ice Climbers
-Mr. Game and Watch
-R.O.B.

Yes, I hate R.O.B. However, I can't deny that it certainly is a unique character choice. I'll always like Game and Watch better, though.

Why are the DK characters listed under "extended Mario"? Donkey Kong is far more its own franchise as compared to Yoshi and Wario, which actually DO fit under "extended Mario."
