Nope. In order to battle people online, you need their FC. |
You can only somewhat randomly trade online. |
What about Wifi Tower? |
Need friendcodes for battles and direct trades.
The other method is to deposit a pokemon online with an offer, like Lv. 5 Pidgey for a Lv. 1 Mew, and wait for a random person to accept it. |

Yeah, and the trading is so ridiculous! If you look for a certain Pokémon, do you know what they want? A LEGENDARY!!! They only want Multiples of the SAME Legendary, just so they can take all those legendaries, and give them to some unsuspecting lazy trainer, and give them a Legendary for free at events like Journey Across America, or Pokémon Rocks America! |

In the Tower battles, you're still just facing a computer. Certain movesets take strategy to pull off correctly, and the computer just isn't quite as efficient at doing them. |
